  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm with most of you guys, and frankly, after previously driving an Infiniti G35x sedan, am a bit torn on whether I'd want AWD on the 2014 (as it's been rumored) Genesis sedan as an option. I live in the midwest, and even though we only get "nasty" snow 2-3 times a year, I don't feel all that confident driving around in my 4.6 compared to the AWD G35x.

I totally agree on the folding mirrors, cooled and adjustable passenger seat, A2DP bluetooth music streaming and with control capability (Ford got most of it right with their Sync system) but would also add a completely revised Navigation system with touch screen capability. I don't mind the DIS controller wheel, but when you're trying to input an address, it's so much easier to use a keyboard layout. If they can make it a hybrid system that allows both, that's a start, but yes, the routes and navigation maps need to be updated to work more effectively.

I'd also like to see better lateral seating support for the back and thighs (I've not seen/test driven the R-spec) since it seems as though the seats are a bit "flat" when cornering to me.

Gotta say otherwise I really love my car, and even though my lease is up in about 9 months, I'm already considering another one!

Only Premium and that's it. Tech packages do not.

Apparently not in the Lexicon system with DIS. As far as I know that wasn't even offered in 2010 models. Hopefully it'll be available in all models.

Get another set of wheels and some Blizzaks (or similar). They will not only help with the go and the turning, but also with the stopping--------which AWD doesn't do.

When I had the Marauder with Blizzaks, I preferred driving that on slippery roads (including up to 4" of snow) over the wife's Explorer.

Faster transmission shifts in auto-manual mode. Paddles not as important to me. And (especially if they go to the rumored 10-speed) a 2x gear downshift option to get around corners, up on-ramps, and past the slow-pokes. (Guessing the 10-speed will be 2014, though)

A 10 speed transmission behind a powerful V8 engine makes no sense at all to me and an 8 speed very little sense.

Like AWD, the advantages vs the complexity, cost, and reliability just doesn't add up.

A good shifting 6 speed should be just fine.

You have blutooth Audio Streaming. I use it all the time in my 2012 Premium w/Nav
I am considering a purchase of a Genesis, but I was disappointed when the dealer told me that there was NOT audio streaming, but you say that yours has it. What am I missing here? Thanks.

PaulSW:

The Genesis with the tech package does NOT have audio streaming. Cars without the tech package have audio streaming.

That's pretty strange considering the tech package costs about $4000 more than a non tech car.

Yeah I wrote Hyundai about it. They said that while they aspire to incorporate features with higher end cars and options, they can't always make it happen. (Summarizing)

Only the base and Premium pkg cars have streaming audio. That's why I bought Premium and not Tech package. Yes, hard to fathom the top end cars not having the greatest car audio feature ever created. Oh, I suppose stereo was a good invention too. ,-)

By the way, sometimes I really miss the old mono reverberator systems from the '60. They gave a great stereo effect, front to rear, and the signal (echo) delay was adjustable too. Such audio systems were perfect for Beach Boys tunes.

Thanks for the clarification. That is a bit odd, isn't it? It does encourage me to pass on the tech package and save some money in the process

Just got a new Genesis this weekend. No tech package, so audio streaming is in play. Thanks for the feedback last week. It helped me get the deal done.

Thanks for the feedback last week. Got a Genesis this past weekend. Awesome car.

After seeing the presentation at the NY Auto Show on the new Sante Fe- it has Pandora, heated steering wheel, blind side monitoring options- so very confident 2013 Genesis will be overflowing thru the panoramic sunroof with tech gadgets galore!

I concur with many of the prior points.

For me, having a passenger seat that has full 8-way function and cooling is a no brainer. Same damn seat as the driver---put it in Hyundai!

On topic of seats, I’d like to see the ‘premium’ leather get upgraded. I have premature wear and discoloring on my beige leather on my 2011 4.6. Also, as smhirsch noted, better side bolstering overall to just make the seat firmer.

I too would like a remote start—would be nice to cool down the car a bit in the summer heat.

Full iPod integration would be nice too; I’m not keen on how it works right now. In general, the screen could be a bit bigger and the angle could be a little more toward vertical to avoid the sunlight reflection as much. Piddly stuff, I know, but I’ve had few gripes about my Genesis.

The one thing that I miss from my Acura TL is approaching the car on a hot day and being able to use the remote to lower all the windows and open the sunroof to let some of the hot air out. Even my 2000 Lexus RX has this feature and I am disappointed that my new Genesis doesn't.

Remote start solves that as the climate control kicks in and sets the temp on the dial. Works well in summer or winter, heating or cooling. I also had this feature on a TL but never used it along with remote window up/down.
