  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

And when I say "an area," I'm talking about a whole state. Specifically, Alaska. Same would go if I were to move to a country overseas...doesn't seem like there are any international dealers.

Long story short; there's a chance that I could be moving up there next summer for a couple years. There are Hyundai dealerships but no Genesis dealers anywhere in the state. This worries me from a servicing/warranty standpoint should something go wrong with the car (2019 G70 Sport).

I'm not confident that any of the Hyundai dealers would be able to work on my car (my local one near me won't, which is fine). So what would be my options? I'd rather not leave the car in the lower 48 or sell it...considering I just bought it last year.

That being said, I would be needing a block heater to be installed. I saw some info on the G80s with the 5.0 possibly having a block heater available but nothing about any other vehicle. I'm sure that our Canadian owners have them...just don't see it as an option down here in the states.

Hyundai/Genesis hasn't offered block heaters for their cars for years.

Hyundai dealers cannot do warranty work on the G70, and if it's a part specific to your car, they cannot even order the part from Hyundai.

You might want to call Genesis and see what your options are.

So I shot Genesis a message...

Thank you for contacting Genesis Motor America.

Thank you for inquiring about warrant coverage outside of the United States.

Warranty coverage for US vehicles is only valid inside of the US.

For our US Military operating outside of the US we would have to be contacted and the concern handled on a case by case basis.

Currently we do not have any Genesis retailers in the state of Alaska. We would need to be contacted for any warranty concern.

For the installation of a block heater pleas contact your Genesis retailer directly for assistance.

If you have additional questions or concerns please contact Genesis Customer Care.

Sounds like I would just need to get a hold of them if I go up to Alaska or overseas (I'm military). I never mentioned that fact to them but it's nice that they came right out and said that.

To be honest, of all the cars that my wife and I have owned, Genesis' customer service is second to none. Huge fan. Now if I can just convince her to get a GV80 next spring...hahaha.

You should be able to get your free maintenance and warranty work under the Unassigned Genesis Brand Owner program that Genesis has for these situations. As long as there is a Hyundai dealer willing to do the work, Genesis will work out the details.

In order to qualify you need to meet one of the three criteria:

- Bought their new Genesis Brand vehicle from a Genesis Brand Retailer and has been serviced by this Genesis Brand Retailer, and the Genesis Brand Servicing retailer is now closed.

- Bought their new Genesis Brand vehicle from a Genesis Brand Retailer, but live too far to have their Genesis Brand vehicle serviced at a Genesis Brand Retailer (over an hour away)

- Bought their new Genesis Brand vehicle from a Genesis Brand, have had their services performed by a Genesis Brand Retailer, but now the customer has moved to a city where there is no local Genesis Brand Retailer available (over an hour away)

So it was still considered a "new" car when I bought it (had 8-9K on the odo) but I'm the second owner. By this logic...am I SOL?

Yes following that criteria but my guess is that the wording is not meant to exclude second owners in regards to any remaining factory warranty. Contact Genesis and ask them specifically about the Unassigned Genesis Brand Owners program and how it apply to second owners. If you can post the info you get that would be great.

So they keep telling me to call them on a case-by-case basis since I'm military. They're not giving me any further direction. I specifically asked about what you said.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

First of all, thank you for your service. Unfortunately, like with many companies nowadays, the first line support people are usually lacking in knowledge. Just for your peace of mind, you may want to try calling and then asking for a supervisor.

Thanks!

Unfortunately I won't able to call until I get home (deployed) so that'll have to wait for a few months...hahaha. Hopefully by then I'll know where my next adventure will take me and I'll be able to determine whether or not I'll need to worry about this.

For the record...there's a Genesis dealer outside of Honolulu. Fingers crossed!! :ROFLMAO:
