  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I don't understand why the flipped one of the AC vents like they did I have mild OCD and this could be a deal breaker for me... Any idea why the design team did this, I can't be the only person to question this....20860

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I personally like the asymmetry of the vents.

If the flipped vent is a deal breaker for you, I wouldn't call your OCD "mild". ;)

Did I notice the flipped vent in the '15 redesign? Yes. Did I question it in any way? No. It gives that area of the dash a parallelogram shape that flows in with the vent on the far passenger side. Just a Hyundai design team thing. No different than any other automaker doing different things.

What I can tell you is that the flipped design doesn't make the air come out upside down. It works just fine. :)

I can't believe I never noticed this before. After you mentioned it, I started looking at pictures and my first thought was "why did they do that? Then, I pulled my view back a bit and looked at the combined outlined of the 2 vents with the screen and I see a parallelogram, which I suspect was the desired design esthetic. I can live with that.

Damnit, you stole my parallelogram observation while I was playing with the photo editor!

They fit the spots left after everything else was complete. Frankly, I never noticed. The climate control works well and that is what matters to me. I don't see a simple solution without major changes to the overall design like the gauge area.

There are solutions though if you like the car otherwise.
1. Cover the angled portion with duct tape so they appear rectangular.
2. Find a therapist that specializes in Automotive Disorder.

Is that what ADD actually stands for? Automotive Design Disorder?

I read this and just had to go look. Wife went with me. Sure enough, the vents were different. Wife had to bring up that the mirror is not in the center of the windshield. This Genesis is going back.

Worse than that. The steering wheel is way to the left of center too.

Holy ass. Mine is the same way. Maybe there's a bad batch. Everyone with this problem should post VIN's for data gathering purposes. And I was really liking this car too. Just washed the damn thing. Hoping I can trade it Monday without the dealer noticing...

I'm an attorney representing the law firm of Dewy, Cheatum, and Howe, and we are filing a class action lawsuit in state, federal, and world courts on the behalf of the poor victims of Hyundai's egregious, preposterous, and outrageous use of asymmetrical steering wheels and HVAC vents. Just having fun with the subject at hand. No harm meant. It's just of all the things in any car forum I've been a member of, I've never seen an air vent mentioned as a deal breaker. Especially for such a nice car at this one. I think that's why everyone who posted here sees it as comical. Sorry if it comes off as crass or rude.
