If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello

Looking to buy my 1st EV. My Lexus RX 350 was totaled last Aug and have tried sharing a car with my husband and using my RAM 2500 ( for hauling my horse around). Its really not working. So i started looking at the Ioniq5 but then discovered the more luxurious GV60 and now GV70E. I usually keep cars 10 years. Is this not practical with Genisis? I see so many issues posted. I'm retired, so is my spouse. We live just south of the SF Bay area. I've seen many cars listed through Auto Finder that are 2023 never used and 2024s for amazingly low prices competitive to the ionic 5. I would really rather get a car this year than wait for the ionic5 2025, and I'm very intrigued with a more luxury sort of vehicle. Especially appreciate any of the California owners to weigh in on the pros and cons and especially if I should definitely go for a 2024 model year instead of a leftover 2023.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us. Sorry to hear about the accident and I hope nobody was hurt. I'm sure your RX 350 served you well. I'd like you to keep in mind when browsing online forums that far more often than not - people post here if/when they're having a problem.

Most people don't seek out online communities to talk about how they're having no problems. Most of the people who are having an excellent experience with Genesis ownership will never come here to talk about it - unless they one day have a problem...

The people you DO see here talking about how much they love their Genesis - they're car enthusiasts who love the brand and sign up at communities like this for that very reason.

Just something to keep in mind as you read discussions here in the community... And once again, welcome! :)

I am not a California user but I can share a couple of thoughts. Electric cars are so new, and the technology is moving so quickly, that it will be difficult to keep a car for ten years unless you are willing to drive a car that is significantly out of date (ICE cars have been around for more than a century so the changes there tend to be incremental). Because of the technology, I would think that five years is probably more realistic.

Personally, I prefer the GV60 over the electrified GV70 because it is smaller (lengthwise) and designed from the ground up as an electric car. There are also lots of other choices out there in the EV world. Sticking with small to medium size SUVs: BMW iX (terrific car if you can stomach the looks...unfortunately I couldn't); Cadillac Lyriq; Polestar 3 (soon to be out); Lucid Gravity (soon to be out). I am not a fan of the current MB and Audi efforts. Take a look at all of them and compare them to your desires/needs.

What are your needs/desires: size? storage? type of storage? seating capacity? tall/short? features (HUD? HP? seating material? Range? Handling?

As to the model years, I don't see much of a difference right now between the years and the various products out there. Just try to stay away from the first year of any product.

Having said all that, I love my 2023 GV60P. A year and a half into ownership and I still smile when I drive it. I charge to 80% every night in my garage and often drive 40 miles or so to a golf course (and back of course) and range has never been an issue for me. But I have made a decision that long distance travel (e.g., Scottsdale to Las Vegas) is stressful and I am not going to add to that by worrying about finding chargers in a strange city and overnight charging. So for the next several years I plan to rent an ICE car when I do that travel (and on such trips I often have my kids and grandkids so I probably need something much bigger anyway). So I drive mine like I stole it and rarely have less than 50% charge left at the end of the day.

Thanks for the input. Well I started out Getting wooed by the Ionic5 limited, jAWD ex range. Test drive went well my 6'3 husband fit in it fine but the car will primarily be mine and I'm only 5'4".

Then attracted to GV60. About to get in 1. But curious about GV70

Let you know how it goes so

For what it is worth, I am 5'7" and fit fine in the gV60. One of my golf partners is 6'11" and he also fits fine. Loads of adjustability and the wheelbase is larger than that of the Teluride. But the GV70 is an electrified version of the GV70 so you should check how both of you fit but it will have a smaller wheelbase. Probably fine.

I drove both GV60 and 70 electrified last night. I didn't care for the GV70e. I really like the GV60. Inly tried the advanced trim. Wondering if i should also try the new standard RWD version. The increased range is attractive. If i go to the snow would take my RAM 2500 FWD beast. We have lots of charge points nearby, 1 is just 7 min away.

Do i need the extra power for doing hills in normal and or wet weather?

I dont drive much daily, but weekly go on 100 mi round trip to SF, Berkeley, Central Coast. Wouldn't do a road trip outside of the west coast, even then typically fly if over 6 hrs drive

I would not get the RWD version if you have hilly roads. It is still a heavy vehicle with limited HP and torque. The advanced version should be adequate for you unless...there is a road that I use somewhat regularly where the speed limit is 65 but it is a country road with only one lane in each direction and lots of slow drivers including some pulling trailers. In a couple of spots where the hills are particularly steep, they have added passing lanes. I want to be able to see a driver pulling a trailer ahead of me and be able to step on it and get past the slow driver before the hill and passing lane ends. For that I prefer the Performance model. But unless you are planning on something like that, the Advanced model should be fine for you.

Speed and weather will impact range more than power although power does impact range. Driving 65 on a highway will get you much better range than driving 75 or 80 which is pretty much the standard speed here in Arizona. Just stay to the right if you do (as the driving manuals state but few drivers do).

I drive my Performance model (the one with the least range) as if I stole it and I don't care about range. I travel 40 miles to go to a golf course and run errands as well. I charge to 80% overnight and I have rarely gone below 40% charge. If you do a big intercity trip, take the Ram and don't stress out over chargers. If you do this, your range on the Advanced model will be more than adequate and the car will put a smile on your face.

Yes agreed. I didn't like the RWD model feel or interior as much either
