  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking at some low mileage Demos

Not to beat the topic to death - but somebody raised the issue of how a demo could suffer very much damage in a short time.

The answer is a lot - Figure 3000 miles on the demo - that's at least 30 or 40 demo trial runs --- Probably quite a few of those are pretty rough

I'm on my second demo Genesis and there was/is absolutely nothing wrong with either car.

The first one was '13 Genesis Rspec, bought it with 4600 miles on obo, drove it for 2 years, put 16k more miles (trouble free, not a single problem) then traded it in for another demo, this time for '15 5.0 with 4200 miles on obo. Both cars looked like brand new cars, no visible "use" of them.

Do I care if their weren't brand new, with just a few miles on the clock? no. In each case, I paid ~14k below the sticker price.

Some guys are going to say: yeah, but those cars are being abused on test drives, driven hard, etc.I would never buy one! LOL I always wonder ....how can you "abuse" the car if you don't know the car?! do they drive ~140mph? they drift it, etc.? I don't think so...

Btw. on '15 the warranty started the day I purchased the car. Not when the dealer started using the cars. I got this written in contract.

These are important factors for consideration. I only pointed out that it wasn't new so that the OP would use used car prices as a starting point for negotiation rather than new car prices. If I buy a car, drive it 4000 miles and then turn around and seek to trade it in, they aren't going to pretend it's new and pay invoice on the car. To them it's a used car, just like it should be when the inverse is true (ie, when someone buys a car that is a demo that has 4K miles).

I was being sarcastic. 95% of demos sold are sold as GM or Sales Manager "personal use" cars, etc. They are all lying. They are all loaners and demos.

This lie is very first thing that car salesmen learn when they start selling cars.

How do you know when a car salesman is lying? His lips are moving. Another one of the common industry lies when they tell you that they've located a car at another dealer that fits your needs is for them to tell you "Yeah but they are driven by old men." :D

Found a new 2015 5.0 Ultimate on a lot with 7 miles on it. Considering it will be a 2 year old car once I drive it off the lot what do you think a good offer would be? They had it listed for $42k last month but now they have it at $51k.

I'd offer them ~$36k or less, or walk away.

my story is that I loved the demo car, I drove for 1.5k miles. it was white with grey interior.
it was with 20k miles on it. dealership gave it for 6 months to one guy to drive it with the idea that he will buy it, but at the end there was only mileage and rough usage.
nevermind I wanted to buy it, the dealer said the price of aprox 47k$ , same time a 3 months old exhibition car with no mileage was aprox 62k$
so I go for the new car :)

P.S. the story is from Europe

My next car is probably going to be another demo... lol... I already told my buddy at Hyundai that the 3rd gen demo car be Gray.... Let's face it, I just don't wash my cars and gray always looks clean
