  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking for a grocery bag net

Does the Azera or the Sonata have a cargo net? If so, I would guess in the interest of saving money, that all three vehicles would share the same cargo net. Which in turn would have a similar, if not the same part number. Just a hunch.

Alright . . . . just did a search online and found a cargo net for both the Azera and the Sonata. The Azera number is 8170-3L000, and the Sonato number is 8170-3K000. Very similar part numbers. Not sure what the differences are between the two, or whether or not they will work/fit in the Genesis.

I also purchased the plastic trunk cover for my Genesis. The cargo net was stored under the rear deck where the battery and spare is located. Try looking there.

Oh my! Guess what I just found next to the spare tire. The weird thing is, I had called Hyundai corporate headquarters to find out if they sold a net and they said no. I asked at the dealership and they said no. I'm guessing though that the factory hides the cargo net under there with every new car they turn out. So why isn't there a part number and why doesn't anyone know about it? Hmmm...

Congrats, Larry! Was yours in a little blue bag, too?

BTW, after another, closer look, I found two more hooks for the net at the front of the trunk cover right next to the rear of the car for a total of six, which just matches the number of outside loops on the net.

What other undocumented features are left to be discovered on our wonder cars?

Yet another gift from Hyundai. :)

Yes sir! Little blue bag. If you just use the hooks towards the back and not the ones on the floor of the trunk in the middle you can use the net for groceries. I'm so happy!:)

Well I'll be damned. You guys piqued my interest and I decided to check. Lo and behold I had a little blue plastic bag with the net. This is the second time something like this happened. I didn't like using my sun roof because it would terribly loud, and then I saw someone mention a strip of blue tape. Sure enough it was there and after removing it it worked perfectly.

So what hooks are you guys actually using? I found two on the floor of the trunk at the rear, then those two metal hooks on the floor about halfway through. Where are these other two hooks?

In "grocery bag" configuration, the loops at the middle of the net hook on the floor at the car-tail end of the trunk, and the loops at the ends of the net both hook over the pegs near the tail lamps, forming a pouch.

Not meaning to nitpick, but the tray can also be a port-installed option (listed on the window sticker) as well as a dealer-installed option.
You are correct. It was on my sticker.

I guess from what others have said the net (but not the tray) is included in all cars so I stand corrected on that. But if that is the case, there should be a part number, although maybe it is not imported by HMA.

OK, guys, here's the poop from my service guys a/o about one hour ago. The cargo net is supposed to be in EACH and every Genesis (as well as the Azera and the Santa Fe). The net (for the Genesis) should be under the bottom of the trunk on or around the spare.

So, if you have no net, go after the service guys where you bought your gennie. And, btw, they said that there is NO part number associated with the net (that they were aware of).

The good news is that we ALL got the same story from our various Hyundai representatives.

If it comes from the factory with the net, I can assure you that Hyundai in Korea has a part number for it. But HMA may have decided to not import that spare part, so in that case no part number shows up in the HMA systems.

So, where the heck were you yesterday before we had to spend all that time searching the internet and scavenger hunting in our po' little gennies?

Thanks for the specificity of the trunk schematic.

BTW, all other guys, I happened to notice on page 4-105 of the Owner's manual that the "Luggage" net is pictured and not well discussed. See page 4-106 for safefy warnings. :D

(Please note that I don't ordinarily read operating manuals; it just fell open to page 105. Also, please note that as a man, I DO NOT ask for directions, esp with a NAV system.) :o

Found mine about a week after getting the car. It was shoved up under the plastic trunk floor mat against the rear seats. Haven't used it yet... hum.

I have both the net and liner and have used since the first day of driving. However, I can not figure out the best configuration for the six loops of the cargo net. I like to put my pc bag in the trunk each day, along with a notebook or two but I have not found an arrangement that works. Right now, all six loops are attached to floor level points and the net is flat in the trunk. I consider this layout poor at best. Looking for suggestions since my configurations have held very little during driving!
