  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking to buy a 5.0, have some questions

I guess it depends on how much u use the carplay. I have the tech. Only feature I would like to have from the ultimate is the power trunk....not because it’s a big deal to close manually , it is not. But after a couple days after a wash, it shows hand prints where you close it and Bugs me...first world problems.
LOL. I also use my power trunk to reduce finger prints on my clean trunk.

What so good about Waze? How is it better than the stock navigation? I never used the app.
They are worlds apart...Real time traffic, even on the smallest roads, both hidden and visible police traps, road works, accidents, now I had it for 8 months I can’t do without it on my daily commute, although on the weekend I do enjoy the HUD and all other toys, but will not swap with the Mrs for lov... The problem these days, she also wants Waze in her car, after she borrowed the 5.0 couple of time and have seen how useful it is... 😂

Seems useful I guess. I usually just take the same path to work regardless of traffic conditions so Wave additional information is not really important for me, therefore I am not too impressed. Especially enough so to understand why a person would pick a downgraded 5.0 model just to use it over the stock navigation system.

To each their own I guess.

Don't touch that paint man, I grab mine on the license plate. Prints on paint scratches the clear.
I like the power trunk... You can also lock the entire car from there as well.

I have a 5.0 ultimate. I drove a regular 5.0 and the active suspension helps mask the weight of the car, at least to me (I also have a GT350 and 911). I bought the ultimate to get the active suspension, better seats, HUD* & better radio. I use waze and stream an audio book while I drive ~1 hour each way via bluetooth. Waze will pause the audio book and give me directions or alerts. I know when it alerts me to a cop it is in .5 miles and I can look at the nav map and estimate where that is. I also like that the steering wheel controls can advance or rewind my audio book streamed from my phone.

With the other cars at my disposal I hate to admit how much I like the genesis. It is a great place to be and very nice to have smart cruise running while in traffic. When I bought the car I flew from Boston to Atlanta picked the car up and drove to Hershey PA that day. Best long distance car I have been in.

*side note, I thought the HUD would be a gimmick or a distraction, It is not. I absolutely love it.

The ultimate has better seats?!
a write up i read states

"a 16-way power driver's seat with adjustable side bolsters and a cushion extender" on the ultimate

"12-way power heated front seats with lumbar adjustments" on the base.

I also seem to remember upgraded leather but I could be confusing it with another car. I went through a few cars recently.

I completely agree with you.

One tiny correction if I may, the seats with the Napa leather are exactly the same in both 5.0 models.

The Ultimate has upgraded Nappa Leather... Don't know if that extends to tech pkg. though. But since tech has the power thigh extensions & bolsters, it probably has it too.

I like the HUD... even though the display completely disappears when wearing polarized sunglasses. The last time I used it on a long trip, it made me a little carsick for some reason.

Waze has saved us hours in traffic on the highway far from home getting around unexpected backups or avoiding known issues. We use Waze for those times we do drive in rush hour to figure out the best route without tolls to get to our destinations quickly and safely. I do not care about the other applications available through Apple CarPlay, however, I would not dismiss the value of Waze. Therefore I would not Wave off Waze.

I am curious to know how much those with the Ultimate package rely on the Heads Up Display (HUD), and what the statistics are on the HUD enabling safer driving.

The HUD is nice in my opinion. Lots of info on it . No need to take eyes off road.

When I first got the car I had a 650 mile drive home from dealer. Turned on the HUD and first thought to myself I will never use this feature. After using it ,I find it very helpful ,wish my other vehicles had it.

Understanding that Apple CarPlay is a no-go with the 2015-17 Ultimate Package, do you or anyone else know of anyway to get Waze to work separate of CarPlay through the Ultimate package?
No I do not, just did upgrade to the latest version 13.5 and find the upgraded nav and Sirius radio good for my use. Really like it the way it is.

Don't know if there are any statistics and it would be difficult to prove. I made it home safely because I looked at the HUD instead of the speedometer.

It is a convenience. I especially like seeing the blind spot notification. Yes, I use it a lot, yes it is convenient, yes I'd miss it. Has it ever saved an accident? Nothing I can prove.
