  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone,

So I have a few questions before purchasing a Genesis sedan. For my job I'm a courier driver. I drive on average 4-5 thousand miles per month and Im looking to upgrade my current honda civic to something in the same price range, but with much more comfort and features. I think the genesis would be a good car for me. The car I'm looking at is a 2013 3.8 sedan with navigation and lexicon sound. It has 38k miles and would be covered under warranty for 22k more miles (about 4 months for me). My parents have owned Hyundai products and they have been reliable in the past. Do you think the v6 genesis would hold up to high mileage driving? I am more than capable of working on general maintenance on the vehicle so I'm not too worried about that. Any key problems I should be aware of?
Thanks!

2013-2014 v6's are good cars, no significant chronic problems. Very good value for money. They're heavy cars, so your monthly spend for gasoline will be much much higher than with the Civic. These are not cheap cars to own, however. Parts and repairs are expensive.

You might be better off going with a loaded '16 Impala and a good set of tires for the same money. Better gas mileage and much cheaper to keep on the road.

I own a base model 2013 3.8 and cannot be any happier. One minor problem with the driver's seat heater but that is it (knock on wood). I put 18" wheels and P-Zero all seasons, drives and rides like a charm. I have 64,200 and drive in city traffic (Chicago), happy with the mileage, all things considered. The only issue is parking; the car is larger than you think and can be deceiving while trying to parallel park, but you get used to it.

I commute 65 miles a day to work mon-fri. I actually enjoy the trip, for the most part. I have 2012 3.8. Its been great on fuel efficiency (I fill up once a week even if I drive a lot on the weekend) and its comfortable. No complaints here.

Let me chime in on this....1st the Genny is an AWESOME car! I have owned mine since around 2013 and began with 35k miles give or take. For my job, I commute about 500 miles a week and now I am up to 145k miles. If I could do it all over again, I would still have purchased my Genny but bought a BEATER to drive to work. For the mileage you are going to drive I would recommend getting like a Toyota or Honda or something that you can beat around.
I will however look into getting another one. LOVE THIS CAR!
