  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Loose driver seat

I had the front seat "pedestal assembly" replaced on my '16 a month ago. Seat was tight for about a week. Extremely annoyed that I have to take it back in. I am thinking they just tightened the bolts without replacing anything, even though I had to wait over a week for the part ti arrive.

Lately I have been experiencing my drivers seat moving when I am driving in a curve. I can't replicate this by jerking on the seat when parked. Is anyone else experiencing this?
My 2017 G80 driver seat is shifting left and right when I turn corners as well.

I have a 2018 G80 Sport and I, too, feel a slight rocking sensation on curves. I think it's a loose rail or rails on the seat frame. I'm going to take it in to get it fixed (or have the whole seat replaced).

Thank you!!! This has been bugging me forever! Next oil change I am getting this fixed!

On my 2018 G80 Sport with 12K miles now, I started noticing this issue on the drivers seat. It is more of a pop (feel and sound) and movement of about 1/8" when turning abruptly at speed and during hard braking. I have verified the bolts mounting the seat to the chassis were snug.

I'll request the dealer fix it at my next service interval under TSB 5NP-Z9P3Z-01.

I hypothesize this may be contributing too/exacerbating the complaints about poor ride/handling from the stock Continental tires.

And I thought I was imagining this with a $51K car. I purchased a 2017 G80 5.0 ultimate in 2017 and I am experiencing the same exact thing. Yes! It is quite annoying and this becomes a safety issue. Thanks so much for posting this. When I make sharp turns and hard braking, I feel the cushion moving. You basically feel this through the der·ri·ère muscles which can be quite pronounced depending on the sway from the turn or braking. It is equivalent to having each buttock move independently of each other. Sorry to be so descriptive.

As disturbing as that visual or your independently moving buttocks is the fact that despite getting this issue fixed this summer with that TSB number I referenced earlier, the problem now STARTED AGAIN! I don't have the heart to go back to the dealer until problem is more noticeable to them.

I'm pissed off that this is still occurring. My 2016 had the same issue so they have not rectified this on the assembly line? My tilt pipe housing assembly was replaced on both front seats during the summer and it's still doing great, no wobble. Do they use a different one on the line? Or are they just wearing out?

Don't feel bad I had the same thing on a $120,000 Mercedes S Class. One of the many reasons I no longer drive MB autos.

Thanks for the TSB 17-BD-003. I’ve had this issue for about a year on my 2016 and the dealer kept saying the slight shifting was normal every time I brought it up. After tinkering with the seat myself, I noticed the shifting only occurred when tilting my seat upwards, otherwise it was solid. The TSB fixes the tilt assembly and now it’s rock solid - what a difference.

Well I thought I'd had this fixed last summer but it came back in the spring of this year and I'm waiting for it to become more noticeable before I take it in to the dealer again. So frustrating they can't get this one right.

Just started happening with my 2018 G80 Sport for the past one month, was hoping I wasn't alone and glad there is a tsb out there. This forum rules, hope my dealer will fix it.

I know this is an old post but I’ve taken my car to the dealer three times already with the same issues. I now have an appointment at the end of the month for the same problem. It’s been worked on and replaced. I can’t figure out what the problem is. It’s very frustrating and I’m sick of dealing with it. What was your result and did you continue to have the same problems?

I just dropped mine off at the dealership this morning to have this addressed.
Hopefully its ready by dinner time.
It wasn't super loose, but I wanted to get it taken care of while still under the bumper to bumper warranty.

Let us know how it goes. Mine is annoying the heck out of me but they said they can't replicate the problem too. They said they'd order some railings or something but I'm not sure what the issue is. It seems to click or move a bit during turns.

I had exactly the same symptoms on my 2018 G80 3.3T. The issue was not easily reproduceable/was intermittent. It was a heard+felt pop with very little driver seat movement. It generally occurred when taking a sweeping curve at highway speeds. I could not reproduce by taking a hard turn at any speed.

It took a couple of trips to the dealer. I nagged the dealer to fix during my scheduled maintenance visits. After a couple of trips they finally agreed to fix the issue at no cost under warranty. Applicable TSB is TSB 5NP-Z9P3Z-01. Replace the front seat cushion tilt pipe housing.

Unfortunately I am seeing the issue again. I'll be requesting it be repaired again at my next maintenance visit. Based on my experience this is a defect and will likely re-occur unless HMA redesigns a permanent fix.

Just picked it up and so far so good.
I told them there was a service bulletin on it and they seemed to find it.

They fixed mine under tsb 20-bd-009hg
