  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yesterday I was making a U-Turn in front of the dealership and as I completed the U-Turn I went to accelerate and the engine did not accelerate. I lifted and pressed the pedal again before the car began accelerating. The car is a 2010 4.6 and was looking for other 2010 4.6 owners who have experienced the same issue. During the U-Turn it was what I would call a quick U-Turn (no tire noise) from a stand still. I did not see the ESC light come on.

Thanks

The U-Turn had nothing to do with it. It can happen almost anytime that you step on the gas, then release the gas while moving slowly, then step on the gas a second time. Like being at a stop light, then start moving, but ease up while the car in front of you starts off, then pushing on the gas a second time. Does not always happen, but it has happened to me, and others have posted that it has happened to them. Don't like it, but nothing we can do about it. Dealers will only say "I'm sorry but we have not been able to duplicate the problem" because it only happens once in a while. I've tried to duplicate it, but can't, however when it does happen, it is always as above.

Bet the problem is with the "Drive by wire" system these cars, like most all new cars have. I HATE DRIVE BY WIRE.

Toyota has a problem with the Prius Brakes but it took alot to get them to do a recall. I figure a TSB would have been better for Toyota. Fix it as the complaining owners came in. I agree the Genesis problem is in the ECU and I hope a future TSB can fix the ECU programming. If someone finds a TSB covering this acceleration problem post your experience here.

Thanks

Me, too, ctrcbob...I don't see this as progress. Same with pushbutton start systems. I don't like not being in direct control of whether the starter is cranking or not.

The throttle thing is probably a safety mechanism that tries to determine if the throttle is cracked open or is closed...in the interest of safety, it probably errs on the side of caution. I mean to say, it's probably not a bug, but a deliberately programmed behavior for a condition it's not sure about.
