  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Loud pop - Clutch Stuck (but kinda not?) - Gear changes extremely clunky while off.

Hello everyone, so about three weeks ago I picked up a 2015 3.8L Base Coupe 6-speed. I've loved it to death. It took about a week to get used to the clutch, but after that no problems what so ever.

Today I was rolling up to a curve at about 50 in 4th. I went to shift into third to let the car engine break a little bit and to have more acceleration once I got out of the corner. I had the clutch pedal pressed ALL THE WAY to the ground, and as soon as I put it into 3rd (Note: Clutch still all the way down) I heard a loud pop. Leaving the clutch pressed in I took it out of third and starting rowing through the gears. A lot of them were pretty hard to get into so I skipped them. (Couldn't get into 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 1st naturally as it's locked out at this speed) I could get it into 3rd with some pressure so I did and then I slowly let off the clutch. Well, the clutch stayed pressed. (RIP Clutch, I thought to myself). I left the car in neutral and coasted into a parking lot and parked.

I could smell the clutch burning a little bit, but it wasn't horrible or smoking. Probably because I only had in in gear for 5-6 seconds in total after this had happened. I parked the car and started looking for oils / signs of smoke, etc.. Nothing.

Rowing through the gears with the car off sounded really clunky. I could also go through the gears with the clutch pedal out, which isn't normal i don't think. I could start the car when pressing the clutch in. (Button) did not test if I could start it with the clutch out. I could put it into other gears, but as soon as I let off the clutch about an 8th of an inch you start to hear a weird grinding noise. (Not normal gear grinding like you would think of, but a different kind) and the car bogs down and the clutch starts slipping immediately. The clutch pedal is stuck down to the ground and the car is trying to do whatever. You can also hear a really weird sound coming from the transmission when trying to put it into gear, almost sounds like liquid spraying, or like a hydraulic pump being stressed out.

I didn't mess with it but for about 2-3 minutes. I figured trying to make it work would only cause more problems or worsen it.

What gets me is the clutch was completely pressed when this happened. I'm thinking the Clutch master cylinder may have given out, but not being a super-educated car person I'm a bit flustered.

Can't get it to the service center until monday, and it's 1AM saturday, so I'm just looking for opinions so I can figure worst case pricing to repair if warranty won't cover it.
