  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
I bought my 2016 Genesis two months ago, I love everything about it except for wind noise coming through doors -I assume- on the highway, is this something I can fix?

Could be weatherstripping. There should be no wind noise. Any visible bad spots? Do you hear it on all doors? I'd try lubricating it to be sure it is seating properly before replacing it.
Alternative is to turn up the radio.

Might want to check the seals on the leading edges of the rear doors. These are susceptible to being damaged or dislodged when front passengers aren't careful about getting in/out of the car and rub against them. I knocked the driver's side one loose when I first got the car and they make a difference...

Your Genesis should be tomb-quiet. I agree with the above posters.

I agree with all replies , you should not hear a bit of air. Check the door seals as EdPand skipgen have mentioned. My 15. 5.0 is very quite inside. If all seals look good, I would try to treat them with a silicone oil or spray for rubber, it really helps to rejuvenate the rubber. I have 4 vehicles all over 15 years old and hit them once a year with that stuff and it works very well. Keeps them fresh and pliable!!😁

Thank you all,

Are door seals/weather strips covered under warranty?

Should be. Some have had them replaced. Of course physical damage, even by accident, by a person would not be.

Have you applied any silicone spray to the seals?

We've had three '15's and not one of them was as quiet to me as people say. I doubt very seriously we got three bad ones with some type of weather stripping or seal problem. This tells me it's all about expectations and perception. One of the quietest cars we've owned? Absolutely. "Tomb", "Vault", or "Hear a mouse fart in the back seat" quiet? No. Maybe when parked.

Seems like we are not alone...
Road or wind noise entering the cabin, might have a fix

Seems like it is a door seals issue and it is a warranty replacement, I will check with my dealer and update here

How true you are Buorbonncigars. Kind of like [ clean ] my version of clean is much different than other people's.

Right you are. Especially that kid at the local Toyota place who got a new Tacoma cleaned up for my best friend last week. Quick story...

My buddy texts me on Friday to let me know he's at the Toyota place and getting this truck (spur of the moment idea which I chastised him for...cars aren't spur of the moment). I tell him I'm on my way to check things out but when I get there he's already back in the financing area. I see this kid bring the truck around and I recognized it from the pic. He parks it and I look it over.

I go back and get him and show him what "clean" means (sucks for him since I'm one of those guys who takes absolute and total care of anything I own, especially cars). He knew what "washed" means....not "clean". So when my buddy got done signing and overpaying, his new baby was all ready for him on the inside as well as the outside, courtesy of me and this kid.

I'd describe it as Tomb or Vault-like.... as far as wind noise. I do like it when all 5.0 L's of mice fart in unison when I put down the Loud Pedal though.

Those of us who know, know. The devil is in the details, as they say. I've used so-called professional detailers in the past, whom afterward I'd show a thing or two and question why they're in the business - they simply lacked the passion required to do it RIGHT. For this reason alone, I find that noone can do better than when I bathe her myself.

I hear no mice in mine lol, so you've all got me questioning whether the slight wind noise I'm hearing is something I need to have checked...

I've noticed the leading rear door seal being out of place made up most of my wind noise.... it's not loud, but noticeable. Weirdly enough, it'll sound like it's coming from the mirror area & not behind you, like you would think.

Now, I'm careful not to dislodge it when getting in & out. Suppose I'll have to replace it at some point - it's only a $50 part that prob cost $2 to make.
