Low end Reinforcement: One Option

Haven't even added my wiring, LOC, signal processor and new amps yet and the difference is phenomenal. You have to make custom spacers to make sure they clear the door support but Genesis doors are the easiest I've ever worked on by far. Not so easy to add damping but then it really didn't need much. I applied vinyl loaded foil where I could and no buzzing at all. Haven't pushed on stock amp but they took 40hz test signal like a champ. Door is very well sealed so as long as you do your spacer right the door acts as sealed enclosure.

P.S. I have schematics for amps but if anyone knows what the type of plugs used are I would be deeply appreciative. I want to get male/female of speaker out to make custom harness for LOC rather than solder on to existing wires.

Excuse my ignorance, but are you saying that you replaced the rear door speakers with sub-woofers?

These speakers can be used as mid or sub woofers. Check the frequency response. All I've done so far is swap speakers, haven't installed new crossovers, LOC, amps and signal processing yet but still huge improvement. Stock "premium" speakers are nothing to get excited about. I need to post pics.

yes please post some pictures of the stock speakers and how the doors look inside. I believe the speakers are very similar in the 17speaker system from the 1gen to the 2nd gen

I am surprised that the door midwoofers would even receive a subwoofer signal from the OEM amp. Have you made any measurements to see how low they play? Also, do you know the stock amp power that is going to these speakers and how can an inefficient aftermarket speaker be louder than an ultra-efficient oem speaker?

The "magnet" appears to be super small because what you're looking at is not the magnet, but the pole piece. These drivers use a neo-radial design, where the magnet is a cylinder that surrounds the entire coil and is actually the outside of the magnetic gap. There is no lower plate.

These designs use neodymium magnets and have enormous effective flux in the gap. If you've seen competition subwoofers you'll recognize this configuration.

They're great for automotive installations: extremely efficient, low mass, zero external field (so no bucking magnet required), and fewer mechanical clearance issues.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I assume you wired the VCs in series for a 4 ohm load, correct? Did you experience better mid-bass punch as well? Why did you do the rears and not the fonts? So the stock amp alone was able to make these sound decent?

I know this is an old thread, but I'm wondering if you needed to do any modifications to make these new speakers fit, since they are listed as 6.8" diameter instead of 6.5". I'm interested in getting some of these.
