  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lurking - Considering a 2011 4.6 Tech

Mine is pretty much the same as yours DRS. What bothers me most is when someone pulls into my lane in front of me and my car over brakes causing the car behind me to nearly rear end me.

I've received a few "single finger salutes" for that. Thanks Hyundai!

I'd love to be able to go back to regular cruise.......

Sounds like I am not the only one. Thanks jlindth. What makes me wonder... The 2014 Equus I had for a day of driving was just about perfect. The adaptive cruise had no flaws I could see. It exhibited great awareness and was very smooth. I bet it is the same system. And Hyundai is too lazy, cheap, not committed to the brand, to patch ours. Too bad for them. They will lose future customers as a result.

Anyone else have experience where the dealers were able to fix the almost useless adaptive cruise?

I think it's software, because my wife's Volvo's adaptive cruise is very refined by comparison, yet is a Continental system, just like Hyundai, MB, BMW, etc. So Hyundai's engineers have not bothered to works with Continental to improve the system that we all know can be far better.

Those that nearly rear end you are driving too close or texting.

Is there a difference in model year of the Continental Cruise Control? Maybe the Genesis uses an old version, and newer ones have fixed the problem. I would think the software is done by Continental. BTW, Continental Automotive also supplies the ABS systems for Genesis (and the unit that has failed on some earlier models).

Every automotive manufacturer should have the in-house capability of defining exactly what kind of driver experience their customers are intended to have, direct their vendor toward that expectation, and then collaborate (engineer-to-engineer) with that vendor. It usually involves multiple vendors or platforms, that certainly in the case of smart cruise control systems, needs to account for what sensors and other hardware is are being used, operating system, and possibly a whole host of other things. No manufacturer in the car business today can exist without making massive investment in in-house software design expertise. They cannot depend totally on their vendors' software capability, but instead, have to be prepared to work alongside each other. Software companies have a different soul than the automotive companies of 30 years ago.

And no reputable vendor -- if their automotive manufacturing customer's expectations are unrealistic -- should be mute about saying - "your expectations cannot be met with your current hardware configuration."

My point is, Hyundai is totally responsible in the end - SCC, brakes, BLSS, audio, Nav, the whole enchilada.

RUT ROH RAGGY.... just got found a car that ticks the bill... with 33K miles (a bit high for me as I will put TONS on i nthe next few yesrs).

24K - including Extended Platinum warranty (HPP)
9K for my Trade

Hi,

GF and I went to dealer to look at a SUV for her business... and they had a 2011 4.6 with 6700 Miles. It was a managers car.

10/100,000 Mile warranty. for 30 K.

I used to have a 99 BMW E39 540 Touring... loved that car... when it worked.

1 - sounds like a screaming deal to me.
2 - what other issues (looked at the iphone integration quirks)
3 - What am I missing?

What are the real world experiences with this vehicle.

Would be trading my 09 Accord in... they just rebuilt to top end of the motor for excessive oil consumption...

Thanks for your input!

I will sell my 2012 Genesis (Non-Rspec) Titnium Silver color with 19,700 miles. Immaculate condition not a scratch for 31K

I bought a 2011 4.6 with 50k on it for 20k (bought from dealer) two months ago. Still love the car after 3k miles.

For what it's worth I just put a deposit on a 2011 4.6 with 25k miles for $21k. Refundable deposit as car just came into dealers and is dirty. Provided the detail gets the swirls out of the hood I might have to put up with the 2 scratches on the trunk.
Oh well, used car, reasonable price I think. warranty until 11/15 (5/60 only).

Just sealed a deal on a damn near perfect 2011 Titanium / Saddle with 11,000 miles. CPO, Extended warranty - PLATINUM

Car was negotiated to 25,432

traded in a 09 Accord with 86,000 Miles (9,500)

16,000 - Car
1,000 - Tax
1,500 Warranty (a little high)

18,500

Pick it up later today. Detailing and trying to get better financing.
