  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just wanted to put this out there for anyone that discovers the M&Soft V7 GPS update that already has the V6 update applied. The V7 update was released on February 17th, but it is possible that your Genesis doesn't need the update. According to M&Soft, the V7 update is the exact same data as the V6 update and therefore doesn't need to be applied to vehicles with the V6 already applied. According to the rep, they just changed the name to better match the part number (7U11 for DIS and 7H02 for touchscreen). Of course, if your GPS is older than V6, go get the update and install it. The DIS version ships on a USB stick while the touchscreen version is only available from your dealer.

The (limited) info on the update is here: https://mapnsoft.com/us/hyundai/default.asp

For those that aren't sure what version they have, my 2013 V6 premium/tech shows the GPS version to be BH.USA.SOP.20130527.016, and the rep told me that means my vehicle has V6. You can always call to confirm with M&Soft if you're not sure at (888) 757-0010.

Additionally, V8 will be released August 2014, and is expected to be $199. I have no idea if that version will be available from M&Soft directly or if it will only be available from dealers. Here's hoping it will be available on USB stick just like V7 is. I'd rather do this myself instead of leaving my vehicle with the dealer.

UPDATE: The 2009-2012 editions (and the 2013 touchscreen edition) of the V7 GPS update are only available directly from the dealer. The V7 GPS update for 2013 DIS Genesis is the only one available on USB stick.

I believe this is only true for the 2013 models. 2012 and before have to go through the dealer (according to their website).

Ah. I didn't catch that. Thanks.

Only reason how caught it, is when Hyundai paid for my update, I had to take it in and I learned of that process then. :-(

I had to do that with my previous 2011. I just checked the M&Soft site again, and it appears that the 2009-2012 versions are dealer only. Only the 2013 DIS version is available on USB stick.

I have (I believe) V3 right now. It says something along the lines of 3.00.00 2012.09.01.

I wonder how much different V7 is from V3. When they updated it the first time, I didn't notice any difference at all.

I was ready to pull the trigger on V7 until the rep told me not to as my 2013 has V6 already installed. Having the latest GPS update is important enough to me that I will absolutely get V8 in August even if the changes are minor.

I believe that is correct for DIS controlled GPS on Tech Package. However, I believe that the Premium Package touch-screen GPS updates have always been available online via MapNSoft website (if I am wrong about that, someone can correct me).

According to the M&Soft site, V7 DIS and non-DIS for 2009-2012 are only available at the dealership. I don't know if it was different in the past or not, but V7 appears to be dealer only with the one exception of V7 for the 2013 DIS Genesis.

Here's the breakdown from M&Soft:

2009 Wheel Control - 7D01 - Dealer only

2010 Wheel Control - 7D01 - Dealer only
2010 Touch Screen - 7H02/7U02 - Dealer only

2011 Wheel Control - 7D01 - Dealer only
2011 Touch Screen - 7H02/7U02 - Dealer only

2012 Wheel Control - 7D01 - Dealer only
2012 Touch Screen - 7H02/7U02 - Dealer only

2013 Wheel Control - 7U11 - USB stick
2013 Touch Screen - 7H02/7U02 - Dealer only

Strange that all of the vehicles are 7D01 for the wheel control and 7H02/7U02 for the touch screen except the 2013 wheel control version (7U11).

When I had my 2013 loaner with tech, the system was 100% different from my 2012 with tech. Everything from the font and map view down to the general UI were different. Were not similar in any way.

Yeah, the change from my 2011 to 2013 was shocking, but very welcome. Most of my complaints were addressed with the updated system in the 2013.

I'm scheduled to go in this upcoming Friday for the V7 update, my 2013 has V5 in it so hopefully it will be a good improvement...they don't tell you how many POI's and road updates have been made and my guess is it's nowhere near as many as it should be. The map software has on several occasions not found addresses that have been around for 50+ years which is just rtard. There are thousands of road changes per year in the U.S. and a lot of POI updates that were just totally missing out on.

There have been quite a few major road changes here in FL that have been completed for several years and it's still not reflected on the map software, yet my $99 Garmin has them.....go fig.

Mine is in the shop as we speak. Updating from V3 to V7. I'll post tonight with my findings.

Ian - Thanks for the information. I have a 2013 rspec sedan. It says NAV APP VER BH.USA.SOP.20121115.014

I assume that is the older version?. I do not have a touch screen, I have the DIS. Guess i need to find out if the GPS is not the V7, maybe not the V6. So, is the update paid for my Hyundai. I need to go in for for my 2nd service job at 7,250 miles. Assume I will ask them about the up-date if I need it. Thanks again for the heads-up. Regards (brat of a Semper Fi Aviator).

To find out which version you have, go to Nav Settings, then Navi Info. It's at the bottom.

Alright, just got the update installed (V7).

If you have the update installed correctly, the NAVI Information will display "2012.09.01"

I spoke with a tech at MapNSoft at length about my dissatisfaction of the navigation system, and the POIs. Some things that I learned:

- If you have a 2012 or under, do not expect anything else, other than map information updates. You will never have speed limit, or other U/I changes; the hardware cannot support it.

- If you would like to correct a data error on the map, you can sign into www.here.com. This is the website that MapNSoft uses (along with BMW, Toyota, and others) to pull data from for their nav systems. The best thing to do, is to go to a different map, and pull the GPS coordinates from that site, and use that for map correction on www.here.com.

Correct map data on www.here.com using the "map creator" button.

I looked but couldn't find a way to correct a location. My house is off by a full block.
