  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just letting everyone know that we're getting a major server upgrade in the next 24-48 hours. Expect approximately 30 minutes of down time during the early morning hours. We're moving up from 4 CPUs to 8...

Thank you to everyone who's capable of supporting this site financially. Without your help, this upgrade would not be possible...

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Thumbs up...glad to see you back, Sal ;)
Thank you! And thank you for reporting all the spam around here lately! You're not the only one but I have to say, you've been keeping busy.. I think the new system I've implemented will help. Let's see...

So how's the new server treating everyone?

Did the upgrade include the add for a vacation in Saint Lucia that now pops up on top of everything, and yaks at me every time I click "Today's Posts"? I certainly don't mind the sponsored links that have been at the bottom of the post listings, but this thing is a bit annoying, especially since it pops back up EVERY time I go back to "Today's Posts".

I use Google toolbar with pop up blocker and so never see what you are describing!

No, it does not. That's something on your end.. Check into it.

Sal,

Here are a couple screen shots of the pop-up add.

As soon as I go to the top level of any page that has postings lists where there is a "sponsored links" line at the bottom of the list (i.e., Today's Posts, My Threads, Replies, etc.), the "nice couple shown in the attached screen shots waltzes out onto the screen touting how great their vacation to Saint Lucia was. The video runs for about 15 seconds and then closes, leaving just an add box on the "sponsored links" line. If you scroll up and down while the pop-up is running, it stays in the lower left corner of your screen. If I navigate away and then come back, I get the pop-up add again.

Hmm.. This must be a new type of ad.. If it doesn't go away soon, I'll find out about having it removed. Keep me posted, please...

Thanks Sal.

I think it must be something embedded in the "sponsored link" add itself. I've learned that after some pre-determined time, the add in that last line of the posts changes to a new add. When the new add is displayed I no longer get the "nice couple" touting their vacation to Saint Lucia.

Paulroger's use of Google Toolbar Pop-up Blocker is probably keeping him sane. My Earthlink Pop-up Blocker doesn't seem to catch this, even though it does catch others.
