  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just recieved a flyer from XM to save up to 50% on renewing my XM account. According to the flyer they wanted me to come back to XM but I had already renewed my account back in March.

I paid $187.73 for XM and best of Sirrus for 12 months.

I called them up and wanted them to honor the coupon. They had no problem with my request and is sending me a check for $76.43

Here is the phone number:

and here is the savings coupon code:

OMP942H6

Expires May 27th, 2010

Lets see if it works for anybody else!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. Haven't seen a deal that also includes Best of Sirius.

In general, it's not that difficult to get 50% off ($77 for XM Everything package). It's the standard deal you get from their retention department if you threaten to cancel or if you say it's too expensive to renew. They're now adding an $11 or so musicians royalty fee, bringing it up to around $90 a year. You just have to ask for the 50% off rate.

The only catch is that they want you to commit to a package that will automatically kick in once the 12 month promo rate is over--just pick the standard 1-year rate. My recommendation is that you don't give them a credit card since they will automatically bill it. Ask for invoice billing and pay the $2 paper billing fee. And then just before the 12 months, you can call in, threaten to cancel, and get the same deal. Some folks say they've been doing that for years.

You can get slightly better deals (just Google for XM deals), but they are all shorter terms, therefore more hassle. If you get any resistance, you can call back for a different CSR.

Hope that helps.

Sounds like a good deal. Hope its extended through the summer.

After getting a deal for $77 for 1 year and making sure that's a one-time only charge, I still got billed for the following month.
I had to call them twice to cancel the subscription and ended up paying $13 extra for the few days I've been using.
No more XM for me, ever. I don't listen to radios at all, so I'm not renewing after the 1-year trial subscription for the Genesis.

Looks like there are more negative than positive feedback from consumers.

The $111.40 that paid for this year DID include the best of Sirrus.

That's $9.28 per month for 12 months. Best I've seen.

That's what I meant in my reply: I haven't seen another deal with BoS included, so thanks. :)

I've been a Sirius subscriber for about 5 years. I'll NEVER go back to terrestrial radio... I just bought a used 1998 Ford 150 (single cab, 2x4, 8' bed) a week ago and it doesn't have Sirius in it yet. I tried to listen to some radio and all I get is commercials. I almost smashed the tape deck!!! The local car dealership commercials are the most depressing.

Some people gripe about paying, but I say you pay so much for cable on TV, why not pay for cable on your radio?

.....also, I don't know whats going on, but my XM keeps on ticking in the Genesis and its been about 15 months..... I won't be making any phone calls to CS about this hiccup.

They just shut mine off a little over a week ago now. Guess it couldn't have been free forever. Oh well......they finally caught on.

Have you noticed any problems with the DIS system after the shutoff?
People reported issues with the voice recognition system malfunctioning after the XM disconnection.

No, everything seems to be working as before. I haven't used some voice commands in a while, and I mainly used the voice commands for calling someone. Maybe I should start using the voice commands more. I'll review the manual to see what I can "order" up:)

I have about a month left on my 3 month free trial. What should I do to get the best deal on XM/Sirrus when my trial ends? Should I let my subscription expire and wait for them to contact me?

Their standard price is $13.67/month, but I've seen rates quoted here as low as $10/month. How do I get that?

The sound quality might not be that superb, but it isn't ancient. You can not beat the amount of content it has to offer. I understand some people don't like the idea of paying for that type of thing or maybe think the quality isn't justified for the price.

For me, SiriusXM it is an outlet to many types of talk and music channels I wouldn't otherwise listen to. I will never go out and by a Trance/Techno cd or a Honky Tonk album, but I'll give it a listen too when I'm cruising on the highway wanting something different than my death metal. My favorite channel for a while now has been "Chill". I'm also a huge fan of "Sirius Patriot" talk.

So while your stuck listening to your "waterproof your basement", "Install new vinyl windows", "Come on down to Franky T's Auto" commercials, I'll be enjoying the sweet sounds of music via SiriusXM.:D

EDIT: It works even if you're still on your trial period...I was able to get the $77+royalties+tax deal with about a month left on my trial.

OK - Well it appears that XM has caught on to me getting their service for free. As I've mentioned in other threads, I bought my Genesis used with like 4Kmi on it. The XM service never stopped and from the original date of purchase it has been about 14 months or so... I think.

Anyway, half of my music channels don't work anymore which lead me to call XM. They guy said the subscription has run out but didn't tell me why, or could explain why only half the channels came in. Probably a strategy to get someone like myself to call them and figure out whats wrong.

I'm going to call today and hope they honer this deal as the OP posted. I'll let you all know if it works.

....but wait a minute.... I just remembered that the XM NavTraffic still works.... Somthing is messed up here...

I've just been told that the savings coupon code is REALLY YOUR RADIO ID#
So if you call XM use your radio ID# for your code

FYI - For anyone interested

The reason why only half of my channels are coming in is because XM is giving every radio a free 50 channels until June 7th. (My subscription must have run out on the day they started this promotion)

So if you don't have an XM account and want to give it a try, turn your radio on and start listening! Almost all the good channels are missing because of content issues. I think they are only giving channels that have absolutely no content issues.... even most of the rock channels are missing because of language.

Anyways.... its FREE!!!

OH!!!! And could someone without a subscription that is getting the free trial please tell me if their NAVTraffic is working? My NavTraffic is working, but I don't think it is suppose to.
