  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Last night I had to use my manual key to get into the car because my fob died. I'm slow, so it took me a while to figure out that the little hole on the bottom of the driver-side door handle isn't a key hole. It's a latch mechanism for the plastic cover that COVERS the key hole. Nowhere in Hyundai's dog-shit manual does it mention this.

If at home, easier to get the other fob. Good to know, never used the key but I rarely lock the doors anyway.

Did you have to hold the fob to the button to start it?

Thanks for the pics . Actually when i got the car the hyundai dealership servicing guy demoed this using the mechanical key .

The other place to use the key is to lock / unlock glove compartmemt .

Also if you need to engage child lock on rear doors , you have to use the mechanical key to rotate a plastic clip for child lock.

There was one more place where the mechanical key could be used , i guess somewhere in trunk .

I feel your pain, but doubt that the info is not in your manual.

There it is, right on page 3-11. I stand corrected.

Sit down!

The Hyundai style manuals are terribly written and layed out. The brief index at the end is a joke. That’s the most important part of the book, but they get lazy and keep it too brief. The index should be lengthy and comprehensive.

PDF of the manual and the search function within the PDF reader will get you 99% of what you need faster than the index. the Virtual Manual and the PDF are also available for iOS/Android phones and tablets.

I have both on my phone, the Virtual Manual makes it easy, open the app, point the camera at the area on the car and everything you need to know pops up.

Very good points, but most Schlepps depend on the paper book which could and should be better.

Never had a problem understanding the manual, but the index sure sucks. It could easily be doubled in size and not be at all unwieldy. Most Genesis owners know the alphabet but if there is no entry it does not matter.
