  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys, sorry if this has been asked but I tried searching and couldn't find the answer... The only answer I got on Facebook was break the hood -_-

Is it possible to release the hood if the release in the cabin is not working? I couldn't get to it from the grill and definitely couldn't get to it from under the car.

Thanks in advance.

Not easily (theft prevention ya know). I'd probably check to see if I could get to the cable at the handle mechanism and give it a firm pull... because getting to the latch with the hood closed will be tricky.

I was able to get to the cable there, but when I pulled on it, it definitely felt like it was still attached so I didn't pull too hard in fear of breaking it...this seems like something that should be doable because how else would they replace the cable if it did snap? I just can't seem to figure it out.

Well, it would be pointless to pull on it if it were not attached at the other end. Pull away, as much as you can. You have nothing to lose. In the worst case, you break that which is already broken a tiny bit more. In the best case, the hood opens. (You are pulling on the inner metal cable only, and not the other plastic, right?)

Yeah, I'm going try that after work...

I was able to remove the cover for the latch and it looks like if it comes to it I might be able to try and strip this and pull on the cable here?

Good news! Got the hood open...had to pull the cable like and extra 2 inches inside the car but it popped

After I got it up adjust the bracket under the hood by like 2mm and now she opens no problem.

Thanks for the advice...sorry for the hassle
