  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How do I check what the current map version is available online, and how do I update only the map? A few weeks ago they did the full update on my car, so I assume the software and navigation firmware is all updated.

The weird thing is that the speeds are off 5-10mph on roads that haven't changed in years, and the GV70 I had previously didn't have this issue. I can't imagine the GV70 has different map data than my new G70.

Here are the versions I'm showing on my car:

Navigation - STD5W.NAM.GNS.230414.c0fe531

Map - NAM.16.41.71.012.512.0

Before the last update or three, there were no speed limits showing for many of the lesser roads in my area. The ones that did show speed limits were correct. Now, all those roads that didn't show speed limits before, now show a limit of 25 MPH, which is incorrect for the majority of them. (Some are actually lower, but most are higher.) I would much rather that it didn't display any limit at all when it doesn't know, instead of this default of 25.

Yeah mine are up to date, and my software version is actually higher. Why would they use different maps for different cars? I've never heard of anything like that before. If you have map data it should be the same for all of your vehicles.

You would think so, but - - -
I took an 1100 mile trip segment a couple of weeks ago and my new car changed the route in three spots. Both are MapNsoft. both got me to the destination. Even in the same car, after an update the route around DC changed a couple of years ago and the new car used the original route.

On one portion of the trip it took me the same route around Jacksonville, but on the return, it took me a different way. I'll make the trip again in October and will make a couple of my own choices, especially around Richmond and DC.

The initial last version (which I updated myself) was bad, with those wrong speed limits, among other things. So I had to redo it when it was re-released in mid to late May. I suggest you guys format your USB, delete your current updater, and start from scratch. I have the latest update, and all seems to be well.

Quick question, do you download the full navigation update or is there just a map update? Seems like the full updates do a bunch of firmware stuff and all that which seems everkill just to update some speed limit data.

Never saw a choice, seems you get it all.

Unfortunately, you have to download the whole darn thing; I had to do that too. It takes like an hour to download, and about the same for the car.
