  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I havent updated my maps/software for 4 years. I downloaded the map with the navigation updater on the myhyundai site. Will this also update the software for the unit as well?

Yes, usually there are some infotainment updates in there too.

There should be separate map version and software version numbers for the update. Compare them to the version numbers currently installed in the head unit. If they're different then I would expect changes, and the changes should be documented. I've been avoiding a head unit update for at least 4 years now as well.

Not that I don't trust the Hyundai head unit updates, but I like the way my head unit behaves now (including the proper Sirius channel order) and I don't really use the on-board nav, so I'll pass. Let me know if you go for it and the result.

so the update went great - the other features didnt seem to change any, though I havent gone too deeply into it. The interface looks exactly the same - no "radio tubes" display (one of the reasons I didnt upgrade before). So looks like new maps and everything else is running smoothly. - Took about an hour

The nixie tube display was never for your system. You needn't have worried about that one.

Well that 2nd pic is interesting - I've been using AAWireless for several years or more. I'll check that out
Yeah. It'd be nice to get rid of my junk KPLAY box - not sure this would work on a 2015 Ultimate though.

Dont get your hope up, the update does not change AA or Car Play integration. What is your major complain about Kplay ?

Their customer service is severely lacking - I was having display problems that I tracked to their supplied LVDS cables and they refused to acknowledge the problem. They claimed that my infotainment display was going bad and it was my issue, despite me sending video that showed otherwise.

I can agree with you on the Kplay customer service, I do find the kplay 2 unit not bad, a few shortcomings but using a Samsung S20 for AA seem to be working fine, before I was using a Pixel 2 and had connections issues, since I change to the S20, everything works great.

The unit itself works fine - I just need to score some replacement LVDS cables (have no clue where to source those). As it stands now, I have to crack open the dash every few weeks and reposition the cables to get a good connection. On the plus side, I have gotten REALLY good at getting the dash apart. Especially when I discovered that the dash is tight & squeak-free even when there's no screws in it!
