  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just updated to ver 9.5. My previous ver was before 8. Map still doesn't have my street, I have lived here for 5 years. Several POI were definitely updated but the biggest improvement was Voice Recognition. It is a HUGE improvement. I had given up on Voice Rec., could never get it to recognize either of my sons or wifes name with the phone or addresses. Just tried each family members phone and all worked first time. Same with the few addresses I tried.

I'm stumped, I thought the map update is simply maps. Trying to figure out why the voice recognition was affected. Not making any sense at all.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Received USB stick that was loaded first w/o SD card. Instruction required no cd installed, bluetooth off and map card removed before loading USB stick. This took almost 35 minutes, then installed map card. Assume USB was software for head unit.

I'm glad to hear that the map update had a positive effect on the performance of the voice recognition - I have given up on that feature for now.

My map says NAM.07.47.65.001.002 - car was built in February 2015 (sold to me new in March 2016) - seems like the map software was never updated after the initial install on my car.

I'm not sure I want to pay $219 for map updates I can get for free from Google maps (and apparently still don't work for you) and to be able to use the voice recognition that should have worked properly straight from the factory ...

Interesting....my car was build in February '15 as well, purchased it ~10 days ago, but my map says NAM.07.47.65.501.001

The good thing is, that I'll have my software map updated by dealer, next week. It was part of the deal, written on contract :p

Generally, you won't. Some have been able to, most not. At best a discount. Nothing new here, same for most cars with built-in nav.

Hmmm, thanks for posting, will be ordering the 9.5 version and installing it myself.

I bought the update because I wanted some of the newer toll-roads that have sprung up in Austin and Houston over the last couple of years. It was rather annoying to be on State Highway 99 in Houston and having the nav show me as in the middle of a field. It definitely would have made a difference having map information when traveling to the southwest portion of the vast Houston metropolitan area. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the latest portions of 99 that just opened within the last two months, but I'll probably be moving back to Austin anyway, so..

is this a new recent update? How do we check what version i have? I proably need to be updated also...

Go to the mapnsoft link above and it will show you how to heck your current version.

Been debated here and elsewhere forever. It's is a third party party and like others, they charge for updates. It's not part of the cars covered items, so its essentially a third party product. Their market will shrink as tech like ApplePlay and widespread use of iPhone based GPS, but for now they and the others will make money. Same thing with BMW and others.

Wait every few revisions and use some the savings from buying this car to fund it.

i think i'll wait like you said...

Called mapnsoft because I wanted to know why they charge $219 US on the US site and then charge $235 US on the Canadian site. Then to rub it in a little more they charge $10 for shipping on the states and $40 US shipping to Canada. WTF! Will be ordering on the US site and shipping to my office in NH as we get interoffice parcels sent up weekly. Really? Shipping a thumb drive and a SD card for $40? Boy do we ever get taken for being in Canada sometimes.

I figured I would try my useless dealer. Called the parts department and asked about the upgrade. Said I needed to talk to service depart so they transfer me over. Explain I would like to know the cost to have a map update done. Tells me I need to talk to the parts department to which I reply "they just sent me to you". One moment please, 30 seconds later. "my colleague just informed me there are no updates available for the Genesis". I did not bother to argue that this was actually the third update available, I simply said oh really and hung up. Useless as mud flaps on a tortoise but I do keep trying to get something out of my dealer, just never seems to happen.

Another thing that was brought to my attention by mapnsoft. The 9.5 version is only for the Gen2. The latest version is 9.0 for all other Hyundai including Gen1.

Just out of curiosity I checked the map edition on my 16 Genesis and was surprised that I had the latest version. I was surprised because they list improving voice recognition, but the voice recognition is abysmal. If this is an improvement I shudder to think how bad it is for you guys on a previous version. What's really sad is they charge $219 for this.
