  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hopefully it is a good think to have one group responsible for everything and have it all work together. Just got the email a few minutes ago and here I thought you were special getting it before me.

Geeze Ed, I am special! At least I think so.

As far as my experience takes me, (I have been here and done this before) this type of consolidation will be good for Genesis and Hyundai in the long term. This sort of merger of similar software companies usually means the the various moving parts will be brought to ta single code base, and therefore require less support overall. Less Developers and less testers for EACH part means that it should result in more developers and more testers for the newly consolidated base. IT's an economy of scale. That is a good thing, but takes time to achieve.

In the near term, it means nothing to use as end users, as it is primarily a business decision for now. The danger is that Hyundai moves too quickly to consolidate and economize without ensuring ongoing support for those parts which will be phased out as they are migrated together. I think Hyundai is a big enough company to not make that mistake, but it is only a guess.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
