When you get the card and do the update check the SW version. If it's not 401 or larger you'll need to do the download anyway. There was a critical bug in the earlier versions.

Tell me more about this? I have a 2020 G80, and I just tonight ordered the SD card to update the map. Where do I find out what my SW version is?

While I understand it might be annoying to have someone ask about something that's previously been hashed out in the thread, this *is* a 22 page thread. "You should find it 5 or 6 pages back" was what I was looking for; I should have been more clear that I was not asking anyone to repeat themselves.

That doesn't appear to be correct. Everything I'm finding says it does not use USB. For example:

suggests it is SD card.

? I'm confused.

Ah. Mine's the 8" screen. I have the 3.8 + sport. Which models have the 9.2"?
(Edit: I see from your profile you have the turbo Sport version, that must be the difference in the nav)

You can look through the menus to find the version, it may take a few minutes but it's in there. Problem is, it's not spelled out as "version XX" - it's a long string of numbers to decode. I'm not aware of any step by step instructions on how to find it. Just get in the car, start it up, and start digging through the menus.

Beside, you don't need to know the version you have today. Go to the MapnSoft website, put in the VIN, and it should tell you what you have and if there's an update available. If so, request the update via media mailed to you - much easier than downloading it yourself.

I'm going that route, but a few posts above, there was a comment that the downloaded one MAY be a newer version than what one gets on the card. I'll post when I get my card in to see if there is a difference with version numbers. I hope they'd update the version on the cards, but who knows if they do or not. If it's different I may ALSO do the download.

Well, got my card in the mail and installed just now. It went smoothly. I did note my version number is 41.42.660.102.5 I think an earlier post had the last few digits in the 300 range. Not sure what is different and how much my version is missing. So, maybe it's worth a download? Time will tell.

I've got a pretty weird looking firmware version too. Canadian 2020 G70 both mailed copy and downloaded Copy yielded the same version number. Pic for reference

My G80 is nearly the same 13. 41.42.660.202.3
Could be the difference in car model. It also covers some other functions too.

Looks like mine is 324. So, I guess I'll just have to live with any hiccups? So far so good though (1 day.LOL)

324 is missing some of the AC control settings. Not a huge issue if you have everything set the way you want.

But the download does seem to fix it (newer version).

Thanks. I suspect you're referring to recirc and the like. I tried to find some of the Climate settings but struck out. I'll check again. One thing that is frustrating is finding settings for any action. I wish all could be accessed from one screen and just scroll up or down to find it. Maybe it is, but it seems I'm jumping around.. sound, NAV, Climate, etc.

I'll wait a month or so and do a download. Though I think when I sign in today it doesn't show a download as being available. Just another thing to pursue. Of course, rumor has it that another release is due in September???
