  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I still have not been able to find a breakdown by model yet (will update when I do or hopefully someone else has the numbers) but according to AutoNews Genesis sold a total of 1,451 units last month which is 77 less than last month.

Even though sales dropped for the industry as a whole, that number is surprising to me since more Texas dealers and some California dealers came online during the month. Given the greater number of dealers and their location, I would have thought we would have seen a nice increase in sales for the month.

I've looked at this site before and Hyundai has always listed Genesis sales on the monthly report but on this one Genesis isn't mentioned. Maybe they'll do a separate report but I haven't come across one.

Can't really compare adjacent months, the same month the previous year is a better indicator. Maybe more people got their tax refund in February, I'd be interested to see the bell curve on that.

YOY comparisons for Genesis aren't really relevant given the dealer situation, wouldn't be applicable at all as the year goes on given the stop in shipments. Month to Month is more telling in this instance since you can see how the sales have been growing, or not, given the dealer rollout. Since November we have seen the month to month growth which was expected since the number of dealers were growing as well as all of the publicity over the G70. Given that two of the largest markets had more dealer activity in March you would have expected to see that sales growth continue and even increase.

Genesis has not been publicly announcing their sales this year. They have been giving them to third party data sites so the numbers have been available there. When I talked to Kevin Smith he said once the majority of the dealer rollout is complete they will start announcing them again. Since California is online now I would expect them to start those announcements next month.

I found the March figures for the G80 and G90 on GCBC so was able to calculate the G70 sales. All of the model sales are down from the previous month so we did not see that growth in the G70 sales that we have been seeing. Maybe it was just the general sales lull in the industry, the introduction of the 3-Series or other factors. I guess we will see as the year goes along.

G70 - 817
G80 - 475
G90 - 159

I think I am a bit surprised. I know that sales were lower this month across the industry (as you mentioned); but with the number of dealerships increasing, and with February having less days for sales I had anticipated an increase over last months sales.

Also was a bit surprised, esp. for the G70.

But then again, maybe it has to do w/ certain dealerships not willing to negotiate (or even asking for a premium over MSRP) which is silly in today's automotive market.

The Stinger still outsells the G70 both here and in Canada.

In Canada, have my suspicions that has to do w/ the online/direct from manufacturer sales/distribution model.

Genesis sold 6,326 vehicles in Korea last month, just behind Renault Samsung and GM Korea.

May not even need the GV80 to be the 4th best selling brand over there.

G90 -2,374
G80 - 2,195
G70 - 1,757

K900 - 1,003
Stinger - 438

The facelifted G90 is selling well, and the G70 had one of its best sales month.

Sales of the G80 understandably are down as the current model is nearing the end of its lifecycle and will be replaced later this year.

Nearly 3,400 of the G90 and K900 - that more than half a year's sales of the LS 500 in Japan.

Stinger is definitely struggling over there.

The Stinger sells decently enough here and in other markets; in Korea, however, the contrast to G70 sales is striking (not good when the significantly more expensive K900 does double the volume).
