  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Mass Issue: Genesis Infotainment Driver/User Profile Settings Reset Discussion

This just keeps getting stranger. This morning I notice that my radio is no longer staying on when I turn the ignition off until drivers door is open, it now turns off immediately after the ignition is turned off.

Genesis Customer Service referred me to MapNsoft to get my navigation to display correctly which was also affected by this OTA software update that was not supposed to go out.

This issue is sounding more and more like a corrupt OTA software update that somehow was sent out. This update was something that both Hyundai and Genesis sent out that did not need the owners input.

I am concerned and I think everyone should be as no telling what we will be dealing with as Genesis and Hyundai try and sort this out and perhaps send out other OTA updates to correct this issue, as I am now suspecting they may have already done.
I believe that is a setting that has to be chosen after that reset. I remember the choice when going through the menus but can't recall exactly where to direct you. Some stuff is really buried in there!

Did you get your digital speed display back?
You need to do a reset of the head unit.
Using the scroll wheel to the right on the steering wheel, scroll until you see Select Connections, press ok, scroll until you see the digital speed display and hit ok to place a check mark in the box. You can exit or just wait for a minute and you will see select connections, scroll until you see what will now be the actual digital speed display.
Yes, I got it back, thanks. But I did not have to reset the head unit. I was just a little tricky to do and then get it to stay. Someone posted a video on how to do it.

I am not seeing any such setting for 2022 G80 so I guess it is off to the service department.

Go to: SETUP/GENERAL/MEDIA OPTIONS You'll find the option to keep the radio playing until you open the car door there.

You made me look because I knew I saw it somewhere when going through all those menus and it's not where you would think to find it. Try this:

General>Media Options>checkbox to enable "Continue to Play Media when Vehicle is Turned Off"

Thank you so very much as that it is where it was exactly. When I called in to Genesis Customer Service they try to say this bogus software incident was not the cause and I needed to take the car into service, but I knew differently.

Thanks again

You're welcome. It's a simple and quick thing to do. Keep the directions handy for the future. They, by the way, came directly from Genesis. I seem to need to do this with my car on average about every other month. Possibly because I don't use the app much to lock or unlock my car, so according to Genesis the head unit stops communicating with my App and it needs to be "woken" up. At least its easy enough to wake up :)
Hi RB...Last evening I logged onto the app on my i-phone and believe it or not....it worked without any further assistance on my part. Go figure.😁

I'm glad it started working. When mine disconnects, it really disconnects and I have to do the procedure I detailed. Stay well!

Is that an iPhone thing? I use an Android and have never experienced this issue. I have been connected since day one.
I have an iPhone, yes. But I don't think it's an iPhone thing specifically. We have two 2023 GV70 Sport Prestige. The other car is tied to an iPhone as well and it has never lost connection. Mine however, does. And Genesis opened a ticket, but I doubt they'll ever be able to solve it. So I just have to reconnect on occasion, but it's a simple process, so not all too bothered by it.

Wow
They finally got an OTA to work!
Nothing updated yet on my GV70, build Nov 2021
Not driven Saturday so maybe why.

Since this software fiasco, my radio now turns off immediately when the car is turned off. That’s one thing, but as a result it cut off my phone conversation today when I turned the car off. I had to quickly go into my phone settings to put the call through the phone’s speaker.

Has anyone figured out how to bring this back to the old behavior? I went through all the settings (G80) and can’t find it anywhere.

The solution you need is posted above a few posts:

Setup > General > Media Options > "Play Media when Vehicle is Turned Off"

Wow, don’t know how I missed that. Thanks.

Hmmm. Same kind of problem with our new GV60---chosen screen themes only last for one trip, and then revert back upon next start up. Or maybe I do not know how to save those settings??

I am still stuck on the user agreement screen and can’t get into the system. Does anyone know how to freaking reset the entire system and wipe all of the profiles?

I disconnected the battery for a bit to try to clear everything out but then when I booted it up again I saw my profile there again??

How do you freaking master reset this thing
