  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just seeing if anyone is interested in some left over vinyl that I have. I used this vinyl to do a 1 piece complete roof overlay on my G37 with no seams. I bought a whole roll to do my car and my wifes genesis, they came out awesome but I need to get rid of the left over material.

I have several sheets of 48" wide, and 50-60" long, black vinyl. Rated to last 5-8 years when applied to the exteriors of cars. Either matte or gloss black. I am located in Ontario Cali. For pick up or we can workout shipping arrangements.

If any of you guys are interested in what I have left, shoot me a PM.

Thanks everyone.

My mistake.

If someone has to go to the trouble of keeping a white car clean, they ought to at least be able to benefit from a cooler interior. There is no other reason to buy a white car other than the fact that it stays cooler in the sun. All the above is obviously just my opinion.

Re: Matte Black or Gloss Black Roof Overlay

Does the overlay have a purpose other than it is something different to give the car a different look? This isn't a chest jabbing question. Just an informational inquiry! :D

I thought vinyl tops went the way of wirewheel hubcaps. Thirty years ago.

Always hard to keep clean, plus when they get old, they seperate from the metal roof, and rip. There is a reason manufactures stopped making vinyl tops. (Some dealers install vinyl tops on some of their cars, to be sold to "old guys" and charge beaucoup bucks for it in their bump-up sticker).

As a follow up to my earlier question, I see a picture of an Infiniti . . . . . .where's the picture of the Genesis?

Re: Matte Black or Gloss Black Roof Overlay

Gives the car a panoramic sunroof look, I guess. Not that I like the look of panoramic glass, but that's just me.

I think you're correct.

It actually looks pretty good, IMO. I'm not sure if I like it more than without, but it gives the car a bit of a sporty flare.

Just for curiosity's sake... how much are you asking for the overlay + shipping?

Re: Matte Black or Gloss Black Roof Overlay

Heres a pic of the wife’s GC, its not like the old school old man vinyl tops. This is a high quality vinyl car wrap material, its used to achieve the look of paint without being permanent this vinyl can be removed 5 years down the road with no harm to the paint. Gives the car a sporty look in my opinion.

i believe you are thinking vinyl leather, like the old caddies and buicks had. in this case he is talking about the type of material that aftermarket graphics are made of, its just a really thin piece of plastic

I think it looks cool and I'm only 22... I have a black coupe though so...

@DSG---nice looking rides. Overlay(s) look great. I've seen you on the G37 forum as I also own an '09 G37 coupe and now a '10 Genesis 4.6.

its just for looks. its alternative to painting so it can be removed up to like 5 years later without hurting the original paint.
