Had the Megan EZ street coilovers installed the other day on my 5.0 and damn, what a noticeable difference over the Ark GT-S springs!

A quick thing to mention, the Ark springs were great, but they are just mainly for looks. I wanted more out of the car and since I run it in the canyons, the coilovers just made more sense to me. I had the coilovers at a "5" for the dampening, which is reserved for track use. Since I do not daily it, it's tolerable. The ride quality improved over the Ark springs, primarily because I was running 20 in wheels and there was an issue with rubbing. With these adjustable coilovers, the rubbing issue was nonexistent, since I could raise/lower it to my exact specifications.

So far so good, the Megan coilovers drop is pretty conservative for now, I plan on dropping the rear a little more. If anyone has any questions on these, let me know!

@Reggie, post up your experience with the coils on a 3.8 sedan!

Here are some pictures, and FYI, the Ark GT-S springs are for sale for $150 not including shipping. PM me for more details, will also post in the for sale section :D

It's been raining so the recent pics suck, will post better versions when the weather is nice.

How was the ride quality with the ARK springs?

Without 20 inch wheels, the steering was a bit tighter, cornering improved over OEM, no rubbing, potholes did not feel too bad. It was VERY manageable on 18/19 inch wheels.

On 20 inch wheels, you might have a rubbing issue but it's still manageable. Ride will get a little noisier and depending on your tire setup, you feel more of the road.

So for daily driving, the springs would be good? Ill be on 19" wheels. Are the coilovers or springs more comfortable?

Ark GT-S springs are "no go" for the V8 guys, period. The rear drop is OK, but the front is way too low. Its just dangerous to drive on them on bumpy roads, not to mention getting on/off any driveways faster than ~2mph :doh:

@XPO439
I hope you'll enjoy your ride now, much more than before :drive: :spoton:

This is how my car sits now on Ark's GT-F springs.

On 19in wheels, springs are comfortable. I wouldn't get coilovers unless you track the car and or looking for adjustability. It's also very expensive if you're going for looks and daily driving. What engine do you have?

I wouldn't say "dangerous" just gotta be super careful LOL! I have experience driving low cars so it was expected. Think of it as like being bagged except you can't adjust the height with a push of a button :D

Thanks though man, I'm loving the ride now. Too bad we couldn't meet up for a picture!

I have the V8. Is it too low for daily driving? I dont want to have to worry when I'm getting in my driveway.

I have the ARK GT-S and the front did settled a lot lower that the back. Back dropped about 1.5" and the front dropped about 2" and that is with the V6. I still have my winter tires on because I'm waiting on my new brakes to arrive. My snow tires do run a little but they are slightly taller tires than my 20" so we will see. If I end up keeping the Genesis I will probably do Coilovers.

You won't have any problems if you go into your driveway at a slant (sideways). NEVER drive straight up a driveway, or any incline in a low car, you'll scrape every single time. When you back out of your driveway, again, back out at a slant. Turn your steering wheel clockwise or counter clockwise at a moderate amount and move out or in slowly.

I've only scraped maybe two times during the first week after installation. I think it's fine for daily driving, just be cautious and aware of your surroundings.

Thanks. I might end up buying your springs. I will PM you with more questions.

I've seen how you drive(from the back seat, lol) You drive like a grandpa, so you had nothing to worry about! :grinlaugh:

No worries, we'll meet up sooner or later, I'm in Cali 2-3 times a month ;)

XPO you have your dampers set to 5? That's hella stiff! I'm still playing with mine. I have my fronts at 10 and rears at 14. Still trying to find my goldilocks setting.

@Dareck - Yup, I'm not a racecar driver...hahaha!

@Reggie - Yea it's really stiff compared to the springs, almost no flex at all. I wonder what a 1 would feel like... I think you're at a good number for daily driving though.

hello all....i am also currently on ARK GTS springs on my 5.0. as others have commented the rear looks fantastic but the front is to low. have been able to manage the height easily as the car is mostly for interstate road trips but i am very interested in coil overs. i have not been unhappy with ride quality on the springs but would like a little more height in the front and I am scared of burning up shocks prematurely which would lead to another upgrade anyway. i will be looking into "Megan" as an option soon.

Just ordered my set of Megan coils. Should take about 7-10 business days to arrive as long as it's not delayed coming across the border. Will have my Storm Springs up for sale for anyone interested in the Toronto area.

Jonjon, msg me. Im interested in the storm springs?

Has anyone ran into a rear camber issue with the coilovers, if so how did you fix it. Thanks

For the v8s ark springs will blow your shocks , they are ok for looks and the ride imo felt mushy.

Now that some time has passed how do (or did lol) you like your coilover setup? How was the ride, and were they fully adjustable as in dampening?
