I'm sure I'm late to the party on this one, but, if no one has ever tried Meguiar's Back to Black, give it a try. It's great for the pillars between the front and rear doors, also very good for the rubber (?) weather stripping but be careful as you're likely to get some product on your paint and windows and will need to clean those accordingly.
However, I feel it's worth the effort. It's a major difference from dark gray to very black!

I made a really simple observation about how to "not" get product on your side windows......... just put the windows down first!! Silly me, takes me a little time these days to figure out simplest of things!
