Metal Tyre Valve Covers.

The existing air valve covers are plastic and inherently light in weight. I was thinking of changing them for something more sexy like these.

These would be heavier. Presumably, as the wheels rotate, would these heavier type put more of a bending moment on the valve stem, and could this damage the TPMS system? Anyone with bad experience of changing the caps?

The issue with metal caps is having the threads gall and making them hard/impossible to remove. I personally stick to some quality plastic ones with an o-ring to keep water away from the TPS sensor:

On top of that, those are not the long style required for TPMS valves unless he did not mention it so by all means ask him. If they are not, they will not screw all the way down and look out of place. I changed to "nice" metal caps on my previous car and they corroded and locked onto the stems, I had a hellava time getting them off. Stick with plastic!

Do the original caps have a rubber seal of some sort?
I'd wander down to the garage and have a look, but at present I prefer to sit at my computer in the warm, and feel sorry for myself following my operation and one week of eating NHS food
I've not been able to drive me shiny new motor for 2-3 weeks

Maybe the sunroof won't explode and he'll become faster?



I run black/silver AutoZone metal caps (o-ring included). If you let your caps corrode, I question your maintenance routines.
