If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Michelin CrossClimate 2 vs Primacy Tour A/S

Not sure they'd last too long though...it will be interesting to see how the all weather tires hold up long term.

The Cross Climate 2 has a 100,000 km and 6 years warranty

The PRIMACY™ TOUR A/S™ has a 90,000 km and 6 years warranty

I got CC2 installed on my GV70 about 1 year ago.. it was really good during the Winter in Calgary, my sister's Telsa Model X got installed 2 weeks ago and I am going to install it on my Dad's Lexus this Friday.

Wow, that's a great warranty for an all weather tire! I might have to look into that too.

Yup, that's what I did (I live near Edmonton). Got Michelin X-Ice snow tires and put them on the factory rims. Bought some new "summer" rims to put the stock tires on. The stock ones were okay for accelerating with AWD from a stop, but not good at turning or stopping (which are fairly important things).
If you are interested in a tire for icy or snowy roads, winter tires are the way to go. If you have never heard of a dedicated winter tire, they are basically a softer rubber full of sipes. Being softer, they tend not to last as long as regular all-season type tires....think something like 25,000 miles. Generally people that use them rotate them at beginning/end of winter with their A/S tires either buy having a dedicated set of wheels they swap out for, or taking them to a tire shop and having them put on/off your existing wheels. The CC2's are not winter tires despite any markings...but they are excellent tires in any driving conditions. Winter tires commonly used are Michelin X-Ice, and there are many others. I was amazed at how well winter tires did in ice/snow.

Hi Bicster, Based on your review as well as other options, I am thinking of putting Michelin CC2s in my GV70 as well. Did you get them from Costco? Any issues with TPMS after installation? I have 19" tries in my 2.5t Advanced plus. Did you used same tire size as OEM tire or larger size ? Appriciate your feedback. Thx

I got CC2 at Spec R Motorsports in Calgary. They took care of everything.. no issue with TPMS because they are using the existing TPMS. The tire size was 19" and all default OEM sizes. Just phone and ask for Kyle (the owner).

Hi @dhuhtala
How did you like the tires? I'm thinking of getting same exact ones for my winter driving in the Northeast on the stock wheels. I "assume" they did pretty good. They get great reviews.

Thanks.

I drove for about two weeks on the stock Michelin tires, thinking that with AWD, it should be okay...and I found that the stock tires were fine for accelerating from a stop, but they suck when it gets really cold and they cannot turn/stop on hard packed snow or ice. When I finally got the X-ice tires installed, I never had a problem again! They are almost like driving in the summer...very impressed. I also like on this vehicle how you can really hit the gas and the rear end starts to break out a bit when I want it to. But if you don't want it to, put it in snow mode and there is no sliding or slipping at all. The standard AWD seems to behave a bit like AWD in my truck - it will lock in wheels as they start to slip up to a point, but in snow mode, it locks the differentials and prevents any slippage in the first place. I certainly recommend the X-ice tires on this vehicle!

I put the cross climates on my 2011 4.6 rear wheel drive. Overall I was very happy with the tires. Didn't drive them in snow last winter but I can tell you they were great in the rain. I think really the only drawback is that they are a bit noisy compared to the continentals that they replaced. I'm now driving a 2019 G80 sport and would put them on that car if they came in the 19-in size. My son is now driving the 2011 and I'm confident that they are a safe tire.

Thanks for the reply man. I appreciate it.
I'm going with those tires for the winter months. Luckily my work is only 7.5 miles one way anyways.

Not sure my car has a "snow mode", does it??

Snow mode is just before Eco mode

I have had the CC tires on my RAV4 for 2 years now. They are incredible tires in rain, snow, and general driving. The are priced a bit more than some of their competitors, but well worth the money.
