California would not be in the sweet spot of their primary market, so I understand. Upper Midwest, Great Lakes, Buffalo NY and Canada more likely. Many people on the Volvo forums believe they are like a winter tire that can be driven all year long.

Could be. Handling and dry traction was fair, wet traction good, but of course I had no snow testing. The deal breaker for another set was terrible wear (20K and all done) and a lot of noise for the last 10K that was not offset by the cheap price.
