  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Mileage/MPG Better Than Expected

I just finished a trip from Evansville IN to Indianapolis and back today and the 380+ trip I got exactly 29.0 per computer. This is with a 2009 3.8 Genesis. I am not going to complain with mileage like that. A car with 290HP and get that mileage. I know people with lesser cars get lower mileage. I still have about a quarter tank left. I know that that actually can be a little different.

I've been a little concerned about the gas mileage of the V8. I've only been getting about 15-16 in the city (even when I'm being good). We took a road trip this weekend and averaged 27.5 out and 28.5 back. Our old 200hp Grand Prix only got 30 on the highway. Needless to say, I was very happy to see some good numbers despite the larger engine.

On long distance trips, I'm able to get 28 - 29mpg with my 4.6 V8. I average about 20.5 mpg on my daily commute.

Against the advice of many i converted my 3.8 Genny to run on a hydrogen blend and to date have averaged 50mpg over 100 mile route including some freeway, city, country and mountain driving.I found driving at 2200rmp gives the best resaults but that is above the speed limit so in fact we are paying to drive slower. As i live in a cold region the gas is a winter blend which gets less mpg so am looking forward to spring so see how it improves.By the way figures are in Canadian gallons.

How did you go about converting your Genny to run on a hydrogen blend? I'm curious as to how much effort this takes and the risk to the warranty.
