  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Modification Warning

I just picked up my new G70 yesterday. The dealer had me sign a waiver on the Magnuson Moss Act, and explicitly told me, that if I modify the car at all, Hyundai will not honor the warranty. I don't plan on doing mods to the car so I'm ok.
You just signed that because you wanted to. NO dealer can force you to sign anything. To many dealers out there to put up with crap like this. I called the local Genesis dealer a few minutes ago and spoke to a salesman that I know. He had never heard of the Act, let alone asking anyone to sign away rIghts.

I did wonder after the fact what would happen if I refused to sign it. Would they hold up the sale? It's really an acknowledgment of the act. But, I guarantee you, if you modify the car and you go for warranty work, they will deny you. It was an expensive lesson on my Q50. And this is the second time I have heard rights. Where in the bill of rights is this act? It's a law, it's not a right. Either way, I have the car, I love it, don't plan to modify it. If you do modify the car though, be sure to get it back to factory condition before bringing it in for warranty work. That was my mistake on the Q50. Should have put the factory downpipes back on.

Good chance that dealer had an issue with a customer so they now take precautions. My lawyer made me do it

That is my guess as well.

Rights does not just refer to the bill of rights. It can refer to anything a person may legally be entitled to whether that is by law, contract, agreement, etc.
