I asked below about the cost of a new engine. now the details. Was coming on to a highway via a nice curve on ramp, trans in manual mode in 3rd pulling some nice g's and when I got onto the highway WOT i noticed my 430hp car felt very sluggish and the transmission was acting screwy(like it was slipping). Then i heard the rattle ever so slightly. Slowed down to get off onto a side road and car just died before I even got to the side road, and then it wouldn't start. Could here it clicking like it was trying(that same sound you hear when your battery is going bad). Also, brake pedal was hard as a rock and for most of the time would not let me shift into neutral. Finally called a tow truck, had it towed home, pulled battery, had it tested(it was bad), went and got a new Hyundai battery. Installed it and car started right up with the rattling(metallic) coming from what seems like the two middle cylinders on drivers side. Never let car run very long, but did kill it then restart a few times hoping that it was the new battery doing some weird relearning stuff. Then it quit starting again just like before! And if more then two attempts are made to restart i can see smoke coming from somewhere on passenger side of car and a strong smell of hot electronics and the wiring harness that goes to the box under the jumper connections gets very warm. Also, when I pulled it off the road initially, one of the first things I did was pop the trunk and check battery connections and they were very hot. One last thing, hit a large dog about two weeks ago and it did some minor damage to right front, pulling out the fender liner.. Don't know if the fender liner has anything to do with any of this, but i noticed some modules exposed from fender liner being gone when it was on the rollback wrecker. I know this is long and tedious but was hoping some of you might see something in all this. Just too many things happening at once, and i know with these complex cars one small thing wrong can cause all kinds of problems. Much thanks for any help! One more detail that may or may not matter, a block before the on ramp WOT i was at a stop sign pushed over into manual to bump it done into 1st, took one expecting the Genny's usual power rush and didn't get any because car only went into 3rd
