If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know whether you can purchase a Genesis in Canada and bring it acrosss to the states? Taxes? Duties? Price differential?

Just for the "wood-trim" on the dash? It is not real wood, just plastic that looks like wood, and a bit shiny (assuming it is the same stuff as on US base model).

living in maine, from what i hear it is usually the other way around. a lot of canadians want to come south and drive back. so much so that GM tried to put an end to it a few years ago. there have been several lawsuits filed in maine because the deal gets to the point of doing the paperwork and the dealer finds out he is selling to a canadian and then pulls the deal.....crazy....

i dont like the fact that the brown leather trim in my 4.6 v8 doesnt match anything & seems out of place to me ( i have black interior) so i order the wood trim thru my service manager where i brought my car & should be recieving it any day now

OK, I admit that the brown leather trim may not match the black interior (and HMA realized that later) but why not get black leather trim? Just curious.

i feel the same about my brown leather. was wondering if you got the price on the leather? for that matter how much did they want on the wood?

I have to say I love the brown leather on the dash in my black on black G machine. I think it compliments the car very well and having the cheap looking fake wood instead would make it seem more like a 1995 Ford Clitaurus:D

I love the brown leather accents too. It livens up what would otherwise be a pretty plain interior and it looks 1001081081x better than ANY faux wood. Yuck.

Just my $0.02. :D

its funny how you people put down the wood fake or not but you still have it on your steering wheel & around your shifter knob & on your door panels, the price i got from hyundai for the wood pieces to just replace my brown leather pieces was 1200 but my service manager from where i brought my car got it for me for 750, once i get it and install it ill see how it looks if im not satisfied with it i might have all the trim pieces painted the color of my car instead like i did my front grill

I know this will open a can of worms, but . . . . . . . . . isn't it real wood, albeit very, very thin? I see no difference in the limited wood trim of the Genesis from the wood trim inside of my Lexus. And Lexus claims it is real, laminated wood.

The wood trim in the Genesis is fake, although John Krajicek w/ Hyundai did comment on the steering wheel and gear shifter and stated they used real wood IIRC.

As to why I don't like the dash wood trim, it has to do w/ the "curve" of the wood. It looks terribly fake....like one of those stick-on dash kits or a Buick. Not to mention, the glare issue and the fact that the "wood" will show scratches. The pieces that come on the higher-level models are flat (except around the cd player), used in moderation, and quite subtle.

With that said, if you like it, that's all that matters. It's your money and you should get what you like! :)

As a Canadian I'm thinking you should be able to import a Canadian vehicle.
Should save you a pile of money too with the strong US dollar ( +20% )
The Canadian has 5 MPH bumpers, DRL and speedo in Metric.
I personally like the 'fake' wood rather than the pretend leather.
Just talk to a broker..

FYI...I'm 99.9% certain that's real leather on the dash. :)
