  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Long story short since I have posted before about the issue with my car. First incident of my car having a problem came in October of 2021. Genesis had my car for 3 weeks and replaced the whole ECU because it was corroded they said. I had my car for a month and same problem arose that my car was in the shop in October. This time by car was kept in the shop for 64 days and "they couldn't recreate the issue" although it came in with the same symptoms as in October. They just magically stopped showing. Genesis sent me a "Good Will Payment" for $1.6K for the time my car was in the shop. I pick up my car and the next day it has the same symptoms as the previous two times. My car has now been back in the shop since March 19th and communication is slow with Genesis Customer Care. When I talked with my case manager last on 3/27 he told me it would take 5 days for my car to be assigned another case manager to start the buyback or replacement. It is now April 12 and I have emailed and called my case manager for updates. This is the most frustrating thing. Zero updates and the dealership service department won't give me updates either. I love my car and want it back but I am looking to have it replaced as opposed to bought back.

Purchased my car on May 24, 2021 and it has been in the shop for 110 days total so far. Any ideas how I can get them to resolve this any quicker???????

I would google Lemon Law Lawyers in your state? I hate that you would have to pay a lawyer, but doing so might stop them from ghosting you.

Yeah I assume I may need to go down that route. Just finding time to deal with it is my problem!

In many states, the manufacturer bears the legal fees, so there is no down side to getting a lemon law lawyer. Look into it for your state.

Yup manufactures bear the legal fees but still takes time to find a quality lemon law lawyer but yes I will be going down that route if I ultimately have too.

sooner you start that process, the less work on the back end if that's where you end up. Just telling Genesis you are about to retain legal counsel may be all the motivation they need to expedite (they will want to save on legal fees). From your description, you already qualify, it's just a matter of when and how.

Hopefully they are "Looking it Over" and not "Overlooking It". We shall see what today brings on the news front with my car!

Hopefully you purchased the car new. Most (probably all) states have lemon laws that only apply to vehicles that were purchased new.

In Indiana, Leased vehicles are covered under the Lemon Law.

Your car is at my dealership. It has thrown us for a loop. We're going off of what the field service engineer and what Genesis tech line is advising us to do. I have an IBU unit on order for it. It should be shipping out of my Atlanta warehouse today and I should see it tomorrow on FedEx.

PS. I'm not on here while I'm at work. It's a figment of your imagination.

That's awesome, small world huh? Now I am even more confused as Genesis just said they want to buy it back. I love the car but want it fixed. Now I wonder if they knew this before this letter was sent via email. I am all for it getting fixed and I honestly don't want a buy back because of the car market right now. Got a killer lease deal that I am sure not gonna find anytime soon.

You think this IBU replacement will fix the issues?

Whether it gets bought back or not, they will still want the car fixed. So we'll make every attempt we can to fix it before Genesis comes to take to to wherever they take them to before they are sent off to auction.

We're hoping the the IBU will fix it. The first time it was in, there were pin tension issues with the connector to the IBU unit, and that's where the corrosion was found as well. Our shop foreman is the one working on it, and he's good. I've been with Hyundai for almost 20 years now, and of all the techs I've worked with, there are only a few that I can say are at his level. We'll probably get the part installed tomorrow, but will probably want to put some miles on it. The last time it was in we put almost 400 miles on it without issue, and then of course, as soon as you picked it up, all the codes came back.

Feel free to reach out to me if you want. jnance@terrylee.com I usually have more free time than our advisors do.

I appreciate your messages here. I guess I was just told I need to wait until contacted by the buyback/replacement team and I can work with them to keep the car if it's fixed since I still want it and can work out a "Cash in Lieu" deal or they can work to find me a replacement vehicle if wanted or the last resort a full buy back!

I wouldn't be surprised if this were simply the case of communications breakdowns. I'm consistently amazed at how often in distributed organizations how one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. It's good that you have someone who cares enough to keep you informed. I hope for your sake this fixes the problem. I do have engineering questions though on how it got corroded in the first place.

Me too!!;);)

FedEx showed up without your part. It still shows as "picked" status out of my Atlanta warehouse. They are extremely short staffed down there, so I'm not surprised it's taking them a couple days to ship a part I have on an emergency order. So hopefully tomorrow???

Lemon Law it NOW. Call an attorney and be able to prove how many days they had it in for repair and wipe your hands of the issue. The attorney wants your business and is working for you but will get paid by Genesis.

That's what I was told. They said delivery now possibly Tuesday. I need to stop by there and get my paperwork out of the glovebox at some point!

If they do get it shipped today, it'll be here tomorrow, as long as FedEx doesn't lose it. I would hope they'd get it shipped today. It's been in "picked" status since Tuesday. Slap a sticker on the box and send it out the door is all they need to do.
