  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Two other threads started within the past week or so. First, my auto wipers appear to be malfunctioning. Second, there is some sort of issue is going on with my fuel tank/EVAP system, where when I'm refueling my car, it has started to shut off in between 1/2 tank and 3/4 tank. All at different pumps.

Now, a TPMS sensor has appeared to fail. I can't get a break. Lol.
Oh, and yes the tire pressure is 35 psi. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1385321183.743018.webp

The EVAP thing could be a bad seal on the on the gas cap. Also the TPMS cound be a bad battery in the sensor within the wheel itself. The auto wipers im not so sure about.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Any of your issues, by itself, is just bothersome BUT altogether they really add up to a horrible time with your car. I tell you, with the next car I buy, it will be the car's rank in reliability that is top consideration. I was so close to pulling the trigger on the Lexus before I joined the Hyundai ranks....

The genesis is ranked high on reliability from what I understand. However with that said I have had to have my driver door lock replaced and the ABS module.

What have the temperatures been in your area? Have they gone down a lot in the last day or two? If so the TPMS sensor could have measured a low pressure then got stuck. With the tire cold put about 45 psi in it then let the air out to 32 psi. this should unstick a sensor. This has happened to me at times and I am on my third set of sensors with new tires. Tire pressure sensors can be finicky. Also in another thread I asked a few questions about how you fueled your car up re: packing/overfill being a no no on newer cars.

I shopped a Lexus too. Drove like an old Buick; uncomfortable driver's seat; cost more for less goodies. I could go on.

For a future Genesis R-Spec purchaser, these issues sure are discouraging. I am/was planning on buying one at the end of the year/beginning of next year but now I am unsure. Seems like a lot of people are having issues across the board. Keep us posted on your latest ones Philth

How many forums do you belong to?
I've been active on many for over 15 years and my experience is most people post only to bitch about problems. Just my 2cents.
My point is look at the issues posted and make your decision not on one person's issues.

The main issue I would be concerned about, it the 5.0L drinking oil and, of course, Hyundai saying anything up to 1 quart in 1,000 miles is acceptable.

Don't worry about the small stuff. Warranty will fix it, but it's damn annoying though. You always roll the dice when you buy a car, even a new one, and even a Lexus. Although, your chances of small, annoying things like this happening in a Lexus are slim to none.

If you’re in the market for new TPMs check out my posting on this thread. The other problems with the wiper and fuel tank I have no experience with, but would be interested what the outcome is when you solve those problems.

There seems to be some good advise here on what to check, or just bring it to the dealer's service department and let them figure it out.

Right now I would consider them as FM.

Call me crazy, but if Hyundai were ever to maximize the Tau's bore to the 5.4L Hyundai claims is the safe limit and either MPI, or a non oil-drinking GDI, I'd be on it like flys on a used condom.

Oh agreed! It's a great engine. Just need to fix that oil issue.

Woot!!! You told the truth then....... long ago I came to that conclusion and just as a WAG, I figured there are probably 20-25 peeps who are very satisfied who do not post their experience to every one person who is dissatisfied.

I'm sure my numbers are off, but, I too am guilty of not posting my positives nearly as often as I should, but, I'm getting better :)

Thanks for your candor. I too post quite frequently both good & bad days of fishing on the Florida Sportsman forum Southeast section and are well aware of the bitch factor.

I have been a Honda owner for years with no issues at all. I have also had other manufactures with many minor issues that are annoying. Both in warranty an out of warranty.

One thing I did learn is that I will be buying the extended warranty when I get my Genny. We test drove a Genny back in late 2011 and fell in love with it but couldn't make the financing work.

I want to Thank You NSXNEXT for bringing me back to reality. Philth didn't mean to step on your thread. Keep us updated on your issues.

My Genesis has always kicked off the pump since I bought it at every fuel station. If you lean against the bottom of the handle it will form a seal and fill. Mine it doesn't matter how much fuel is in it the only way to fill it is push your thigh against the base of the pump handle

Sucks for you, Philth. Now I understand why you're such a smartass toward those of us who are not hating life with our cars.

No really, TopGear. I'm only a smartass to people who state unrealistic figures/facts about their cars, and present them as something that they really aren't. I really, really wish I was still in my "fast" car phase. Just to shut people up, such as yourself. And it would have been with a Neon, of all cars.

Ooh, that's tough talk. Was I supposed to care what you think? My advice is to focus on putting air in your tires and using the manufacturer's recommended oil ;)

Another uneducated post by yours truly. We already knew you couldn't do math, based off of the other thread you are trolling in. You've now taken your trolling to this thread, and have displayed your lack of reading as well.

Must be this new common core curriculum.
