  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My car is falling apart

I see you like to dish it out all day long, but you can't take it for 5 minutes. LMAO.

I do not present false information, do I?

You've proven your lack of credibility on this board by creating this magical speed that your car is capable of. I do none of the such.

Philth,

sorry to hear he's trolling your thread.

Eventually he's going to find my thread " Because RACECAR " and derail that too.

I'm sure the mods will hop in at some point and clarify thread hopping damages the forum. Although kinda like an email storm, he'll fade away... least I hope. but trolls are always lurking. Always ready to plop out and land in a pool of water.

hell he doesn't even own a sedan and he's lurking in those forums, must be pretty boring getting beat by bmw's every day. But hey that's what forums are for... get beat and post a win ! kinda like posting BS and not backing it up.

On another tangent I'll prob be getting a Fiat Abarth in 5 years or so (if I can get the wife to take this car)... supposedly that car destroys the genesis coupe. they say it's a 7 second car but im betting if I change the air in the tires I can make a 6 second. I'll be looking for advice in the Genesis coupe section at that time.

ppp

Any of your issues, by itself, is just bothersome BUT altogether they really add up to a horrible time with your car. I tell you, with the next car I buy, it will be the car's rank in reliability that is top consideration. I was so close to pulling the trigger on the Lexus before I joined the Hyundai ranks....

You and me both, brother....... I'm afraid with all the issues I've had with my Genny, I'm going to have to double up payments to get some equity in order to trade this sucka!

As the OP stated, it's one little nagging issue after another..... endless problems!

Update - They replaced the wiper motor ($500 part BTW) and the wipers are now fixed.

The TPMS system was reset and have not had issues since.

They replaced a vent valve for the gas tank and the fuel still shuts off way too early...only let 1.5 gallons in. Tank isn't bleeding pressure, it seems. I'm suspecting the canister might have something to do with it, though it's merely a guess at this point.

I asked this and I don't recall that you answered > Has your gas tank at any time been filled to the top of the fill neck? ie packed.

Overfilling of newer cars is a no no. Its states not to do it The Genesis manuals, and the manuals for my two Mercedes. When a tank is overfilled it can cause the problems you have and damage the system components.

Yes, I'm aware of that. Never had an issue with any car at all. Not until now.

I figure I would keep the same thread going of my ongoing saga related to my car's electrical problems.

Today, had two separate failures during different parts of the day. First, my adaptive cruise control failed, again. The dealer has basically told me to shove it since they can't duplicate it. It's been doing this off and on. Here's the video for it:

The second failure, was my HID headlights flickering. This is also an intermittent issue. Again, dealer has told me to shove it since they cannot duplicate the problem. Flickering starts at around 45 seconds into the video.

This is beyond disheartening. For one, the cruise control module is near $4,000 to replace. It's clear that the module is failing, and it's also very likely that the stars will not be aligned perfectly for it to fail at the dealer. The lights issue, to me, is a SERIOUS safety concern. I have reported it to the NHTSA.

The customer service of Hyundai just plain sucks. I've dealt with their Executive Support (one level higher than call center support), and TWO separate members from that department are the absolute worst at maintaining contact. Honestly, I'm done dealing with Hyundai at this point. I hope others have better success with their product, and product support.

You should see if you can get them to check your junction box. If it isn't grounded properly, it may be causing all of your issues. I believe each of your problems have fuses related to them in the box and if it has a poor ground it could be causing intermittent power issues.

The dealer refuses to do anything. Can't duplicate the problem, is the response I get.

I tried to email the CEO, CFO, and the VP of Service. The email went through to the CEO, but came back returned for the CFO and VP of Service. Oh, and I cc'd customer care.

Doubt it will do anything...we'll see.

Contact Derek Joyce at HMA. He is the Public Relations Manager and just maybe he can direct you to the appropriate persons to talk to.

Thanks for the PR guys contact info.

I've actually received a personal message back from the CEO and he's spinning the appropriate people up to help me out.

Best of luck. I too was having weird electrical problems (like most on here). They found that the passenger side fuse box had a bad ground (whatever bad means). It fixed a multitude of my problems.

Hopefully that's your issue and the dealer will fix it.

Congrats on going above the service manager's head....... sounds like a real douche!!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
as an aside (and based on a lot of recent "what don't you like" activity) ...

seems like a lot of satisfaction issues are based on finding a dealer that's worth a lick with post-sales service. don't want to jinx myself, but apart from a few self-inflicteds and some rapidly addressed TSBs, my (used) 2011 4.6 tech has been a really nice car - and it goes like a stabbed rat.

good luck philth.

Noproblimo Phith - Be sure to keep us posted on how you make out.

Car is at the dealer now, and will not touch it until an engineer comes in to look at it. I'm being told Wednesday at the earliest. I do have a 2013 Genesis w/tech as a loaner, a very nice gesture by HMA while they resolve my problems. I must say, the UI of the Nav/audio system is far superior to my 2012. Completely different layout and seems less "glitchy". I don't think the firmware is compatible with earlier years as the DIS knob has a different button layout, as well as the disc changer face having additional buttons on it.

I feel the same about the 2013 Genesis. It has a better UI and I Pod integration PLUS Bluetooth music streaming. That must be the response to the problems with the previous, Lexicon set up. Instead of admitting that system is less than stellar and problematic, Hyundai just changed it in the newer models. That's great if you own the 2013. What will Hyundai do for those of us with the previous version?

I don't know. Would be nice but at this point, all I'm concerned with is fixing the 2012 that I currently own.
