My car keeps "reprimanding" me

Unfortunately Genesis didn't quite get the sensitivity of the steering wheel detection quite right; at least once or twice during each of my drives to work (or home), I get "reminded" to keep my hands on the steering wheel when I'm already holding the steering wheel. When I'm cruising to work in light traffic, I usually hold the steering wheel at about the 8 o'clock position with my left hand. I inevitably get that silly warning and try to grab the other side with my right hand, but unfortunately for one reason or another my car is still dissatisfied, and basically deactivates the LKA entirely. I don't recall the exact wording, but basically it translates to the following:

"Okay because you keep messing around and not holding the steering wheel, you're going into timeout and we're going to disable LKA for a while, until I think you've learned your lesson and I will turn it back on for you when I think you've had enough time to think about what you've done."

There are several threads on this, my G80 does it, too. Sadly, I just keep the system turned off. My issue is that passengers think I'm doing something wrong because of the scolding. The blind spot warning goes off too easily, too.

But many don't have the issue at all. Maybe it can be fixed. I'll ask about it when the car goes into the dealership.

The only time when I've gotten this warning is when I, in fact, have my hands off the wheel for some time. So it's not affecting me.

Others have complained but no one has ever come back to say sensitivity was adjusted. For me, two cars and over 50k miles it happened once.

It happens to me also while both of my hands are already on the steering wheel. I just go with it and proceed like everything’s normal. I truly only have the system on for heads up display purposes

When turned on and driving on the highway, it happened to me about once an hour, I don't recall exactly but it happened few times in on a 4 hour drive. I wiggled the wheel and it went away. Still, the wife gives me the evil eye.

That is the little know secret. Grabbing the wheel or squeezing the wheel does NOT help. You must wiggle the wheel. It is the movement of the steering that it is is looking for, not a death grip on it.

Next time, leave the wheel alone and give the wife a little wiggle. Please report back.

To be fair, a Tesla Model 3 I rented a few months ago did the same thing. However, it was much easier to defeat, as you just had to turn the volume up or down on then wheel.

I'm a bit late to this thread, but I have the same issue if I'm on a straight road and I don't need to apply much pressure to the steering wheel.

The system works by looking at how much torque the driver is applying to the steering wheel.

If you push a little bit against the lane keeping occasionally it shouldn't go off.

I too am new and per the manual if it happens too many times in a row - it will show a cup of joe telling you that you need to take a break .. Silly car..

Same thing happens to me. I don't know if it's just overly sensitive or what.
I keep it turned off as it's more of annoyance than a help.
