If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Well everything looks great according to Black stone labs:D I like to know how my engine is wearing and it seems to be doing well

"SCOTT: Universal averages show typical wear levels for Hyundai's 4.6L V-8 engine after about 3,500 miles
on the oil. You ran your oil just 2,500 miles and everything looks very good in this report. We liked your note
stating that drive your car "pretty darn hard". Hard use can cause a bit of extra wear that is mainly found at
iron (from steel parts). Iron wear also increases with oil use, so your iron was a touch above average for
2,500 miles of use, but not enough to suggest you should stop having fun in your Genesis! Your engine is
looking very good at 19,500 miles. Cool car!"

Scott,

Thanks for the info. It's good to know.

Is'nt the block, pistons aluminum? Besides the cranks, what is IRON?

Nice. Looks like you can run the oil longer.

I agree, but at this point I'm only having the oil changed once a year. The car sits stored in the winter, and I don't drive it to work.:)

Dont know how many rings on these pistons, but at least one of them is probably a type of iron, probably alot of iron in the valve springs, maybe the gears in the oil pump, cams, rods will be steel, could be some depending on what the head gasket is made up of ineach layer, maybe other stuff....

Cool, I didn't know such services existed. I may have to try that when mine gets up there in mileage!

Just got my analysis back from my 3.3L Sonata and I fugure I would put it up for comparison and just plain interest..... 81,400 on car, and 79,600 was my last oil change.

SCOTT: We aren't sure on the exact number of miles on this fill of oil, but we can tell you that wear looks
good in the first sample from your Hyundai. Universal averages show typical wear levels for this type of
engine after about 6,000 miles on the oil. The only think out of place in this analysis was a mildly low
viscosity. The lower reading wasn't due to any excess fuel, so we doubt it poses an issue. No other
contamination was present and the low silicon and insoluble readings show good air and oil filtration. Check
back when this oil has been change to build trends.

Sorry, I forgot to put that in there. I will edit my post.

Miles on Sonata are 81,400 MOBIL 1 Synthetic, and oil was last changed at 79,600. Not sure why the oil would be low on it's viscocity:confused:

They wrote: Mildly low viscosity. It's very common for oil to shear. It's nothing to be concerned about at all. How long was the oil run before this test? time and distance?

No idea on the time, but about 2,000 miles.

I was curious on the amount of miles on the oil you had tested. Surely you didn;t change it with 1800 miles on it.

I changed mine yesterday- PENZ ULTRA- 7000 miles with a filter change (cuz I have several) at 3000. Maybe waited too long- the 5W30 pour our like water- very dark.

No I did not change the oil as of yet, since I've got quite a while before it's due again. I purchased a pump from Blackstone that enables you to pump the oil from oil pan through the dipstick, without having to waste oil. Makes life a lot easier.
