If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone, Actually let me thank the people in forum everyone here have been really helpfull for me decide on the car with their review of the goods and the bads. I am happy to report that i started a lease on the 2015 3.8 ultimate this week. The car is nothing short of great. Being this is the first car i actually have on my name makes it even better (graduated college last year).

I do have few questions for this forum:

1. How and where can i find a genuine Genesi logo for the back of the trunk. I asked the dealer and they said Hyundai doesn't want their dealers to install Genesis logo anymore (weird because i seen a few models on the lot with it).

2. Is it just me or I thought the interior was supposed to be really quiet. When i test drove it i felt it was quiet, but as i am driving on highway usually there is bunch of sound, almost making me feel as if i am driving my old camry.

3. Last one what do you guys think I should do to keep the car looking good as in car wash or any other things anyone can suggest to keep it with the toll it takes.

First of all, welcome. Secondly, congrats!!! My first car was a used 1985 Honda Prelude lol, but I digress.

No onward to your questions:

  1. You can find them on eBay. Here's one example
  2. I'm guessing you are probably hearing road and tire noise.
  3. I do not recommend you wash it in a car-wash unless it's hand-wash or brushless, though I'm not sure how effective the latter is. Automated car-washes will slowly scratch clear-coat finishes. Personally, I hand wash only (or take it to a place that hand-washes). Time-wise it works out favorably for me to hand-wash in my driveway vs. driving to a car-wash and having them do it. It's also cheaper :-). I also apply a coat of polish (Nu-Finish, though there are probably better options out there) every couple of months.

Nu-Finish gives a great shine but from my experience it leaves fingerprints on finish and collects dust on dark finish colors very easily . I now use Meguiar's products exclusively

the sales guy I spoke to yesterday specifically about the rear badge said most buyers get it and its 50 bucks to have installed. there anyway

Thanks, I appreciate the tip! I'll give Meguiars a shot when the current bottle of NuFinish is done. There are so many car-care products out there these days, I think I chose NuFinish because I remember their commercials from the 80s? 70s?

As already mentioned, it may be the tire pressure. They ship the cars from Korea with very high tire pressure, and dealer prep is supposed to set them to 33 PSI (cold tire pressure) for delivery, but many times that is skipped. Buy a decent digital tire pressure gauge for about $10-15. Tire pressure should always be measured when ambient temp is about 70F and car has not been driven for 3-4 hours.

As mentioned, Meguiar's makes good car care products. I would use a synthetic polymer wax such as NXT Tech Wax 2.0, or Ultimate Wax. Don't use anything with carnauba in it (Gold Class), unless you like waxing your car once a month.

A hand wash is best, using a mild car wash product like Meguiar's. A good quality dish detergent will remove all of the carnauba and most of the polymer wax, so that is why you want to use a detergent specially made for cars. Most automatic car washes use the correct kind of detergent, but try and use a brushless car wash if you go that route.

If you park your car outdoors a lot during the day, the Meguiar's Headlight Protectorant will keep the plastic in the headlights and taillights from going yellow.

Lots of good comments on keeping the paint looking nice. My recommendations:

1. The sun/UV rays are your car's enemy. Park it in a garage not on the street or open lot, if at all possible. If parked in a lot, use a good sun shade on the dash.

2. Brushless car washes (not very effective for cleaning) or hand wash.

3. Good wax job four times a year; preferably at the start of each season. Clean the interior and use a leather treatment at the same time.

Enjoy your new Genny.

Regarding noise. Did you test drive the car on the same type of roads that you are now driving on? Various road surfaces produce different noise levels.

Welcome! And congratulations! You can always get a Genesis badge here:
http://genesisowners.com/buy.html

It comes with a supporting membership and the "tabs" in the back (which need to be shaved off before installation) - have already been removed...

Sal, that's a great idea, and I had no idea the site supported this (otherwise I wouldn't have linked to eBay).

Your link takes you a picture of a badge - not the page to buy the badge? If you click on the words "Genesis badge" then it takes you to that page, but it is not obvious in how you wrote the post - so you might want to fix that.

:welcome: aboard and congrats on your new ride. For the cabin noise, as noted above, it is most likely the tires. When they come off the boat they have 40-45lbs in them. When the dealer gets the car, they are suppose to adjust the pressure to match that noted on your placard located inside the drivers door.

Good luck and keep us posted.

 Thanks! I fixed it. :p

Thanks. Actually talked to the sales guy he said they don't carry the logo, but if I buy it they can install it for me.

Hey thanks. My first car I drove my parents high school gift was a 2003 altima for college I got. Which was totalled while it was parked in front of my apartment and some hit it (drunk college ppl). But I really wanted a luxury car, was looking at a certified Audi a6. But the amount of features in Genesis won it for me.

What is the ideal ture pressure?

Unfortunately I have no choice, but to park outside near my apartment.I will try my best to park.

Regarding noise. Did you test drive the car on the same type of roads that you are now driving on? Various road surfaces produce different noise levels.

Definitely different roads. Like it's the wind noise Idk how to explain it but I will try. It's like wind breaks through a space to get inside the car or something. It's a weird sound, but it was definitely there in my last car camry. But I thought the Genesis would be better.

I wish I knew this before :( I ordered it as soon as ppl suggest eBay.

I have discovered one more issue. Not sure if this just me being dumb. When I use the ventilated seats, why does the fan noise increase and I think the normal vents increase the fan speed too. Also I am not sure how good these are supposed to be. I sat in lexus which has cooled seats they are way more effective. Does anyone else have this issue? Other then that I love the car so far.

Ideal tire pressure for 3.8 AWD is 33 psi as on listed on the plate inside the drivers door jamb.

Hmmm I can't say I have this wind-noise issue.

Yup, the one I sell here just sticks on in two seconds. No need for a trip to the dealership or a dremel to remove the tabs...

Apparently, people are missing the huge "we sell the Genesis badge" logo on the right side - so I'll move the ad column to the left side. :p

I never noticed it on the right. It immediately caught my attention this morning on the left side. As far as wind noise, I don't have that issue at all.
