  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Took my G70 to the dealer I purchased the vehicle from (Malloy Hyundai/Genesis, Woodbridge, VA) yesterday, for it's first 6000 mile service. I had been concerned about this based on the several negative experiences (no loaner, no valet, poor service, etc.) other owners have posted on this forum. I had received an email from this dealer last week asking if I wanted to schedule service online, so I followed the link and everything went smoothly until it asked if I was going to drop it off and wait at the dealer, or if I needed to use their shuttle. No option to select valet service or a loaner, so I then tried to schedule via the Genesis connected service app, but it gave me an error saying that I could not do it through the app, but that I would need to call the dealer.

So I called the dealer to schedule and the first thing the rep asked me was if I wanted to use the valet service (good sign) I told him no, that I wanted a loaner vehicle, because they are right on my way to work. He mentioned that they only had two Genesis loaners and he needed to check availability. A minute later he told me they would have one available
(another good sign)
. He got me scheduled to drop off my car the next morning. When I arrived the next morning everything went smoothly and they had a G70 2.0 loaner waiting for me. I told them to also inspect the brakes because starting at about 3500 miles I started experiencing significant shuddering and noise when breaking. This seems to be a fairly common problem with these vehicles, and Kia Stingers, based on other posts on this forum.

The dealer called me later that afternoon to pick up my vehicle and told me they had confirmed the brake issue I reported, and that they turned the rotors. Upon driving the car home I start testing the brakes only to find out that the shuddering is ever worse than before. There is no way that they could have test drove it after whatever they did to the brakes (if anything), so I called the service department first thing this morning to report the problem and asked to drop it off tomorrow morning. Now I already do not trust this service department if they cannot get a break job done right the first time, but they are by far the most convenient location for me. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Most times rotors are replaced. They may have turned them and made them worse. Probably did not test drive after.

Yes indeed, tell them you want new rotors. I thought turning rotors went out in the 90s? Hopefully you get them to make it right. Dealer service dept really are the worst!!

Similar to my dealer experience with the brakes. They turned them first, didn't test them, it didn't fix it. I finally got new ones installed after waiting weeks for them to arrive. So far so good. This sequence of events seems to be their standard procedure. Very annoying, as it just wastes your time.

Just spoke to the service manager after one of the service reps gave me the run around when I said I expected them to replace the rotors not just try a second time to turn/resurface them. Manager told me he ordered new rotors and would have them installed when I drop it off tomorrow. He said Genesis requires then to try turning/resurfacing them first?, and that he is well aware this is a common problem on these models.

^^ so brake components are covered under warranty? good to know. maybe this is just for the 12 months or 12k miles, since generally brake and wear and tear items aren't covered outside the first 12 months.

Worn pads aren't covered, but "defective" rotors on relatively new cars are.

I had brake vibrations. I scheduled a service appointment a month ago. My rotors were resurfaced. The service manager told me they have to resurface them first, if the problem persist the they will replace them. No vibration for now.

I had a very favorable first visit. Took it in myself don't care about valet service. Just don't want somebody driving my car. First oil change 2370 miles only paid for the synthetic difference. Suresky is a great dealer.

Got my car back this afternoon. Said they replaced the rotors this time. All seems to be good now so far. Love this car, just hope Genesis gets the dealership situation worked out in the US sooner than later.
