My "New" G80 (2022 - pics w/ tint, chrome delete, ceramic coat, powder coating)

Hey! So I picked up my new-to-me 2022 G80 with 20,000 kms (12,400 miles) a couple weeks ago. I just started driving it a few days ago because I was getting some work done:

I tinted all the windows (except the windshield) at 25% with UV-blocking tint that will keep the interior cooler versus standard tint. I also tinted the rear reflectors so they'd match the shade of red of the taillights as they come a bit brighter from factory.

For powder coating - I did the wheels in satin black and the exhaust tips in gloss black. I wasn't a big fan of the chrome tips and I think it looks cooler and more subtle now.

Debadged the back of the car (left the Genesis logo on the hood, though). I did buy a black "G80" badge online from KDM Warehouse, which I may put on the trunk. I want to give the ceramic coat another week or so to fully cure before I do that, but I am liking the clean back end so I may not do that...we'll see.

Chrome deleted everything with gloss black vinyl. I had that problem where all the dark chrome was looking really weathered (knew that when I bought it, obviously, and planned to do this). Incidentally, I did speak with Genesis and they'll replace all my damaged chrome pieces, but I like this black look a lot more so I'm hoping they'll just supply me with the pieces so I have them for down the road if I don't keep the wrap.

Only other simple little thing I did was a dongle to give me wireless Android Auto versus wired only. Works like a charm and was only ~$25 from Amazon. Cool little thing.

I don't plan on doing any other mods, although I'll need new wheels in the spring for my summer tires - these powder coated factory wheels are going to stay as my winters.

I came from a tuned 2012 Mercedes CLS550 4Matic. I had that car for seven years and loved it...over 500 horsepower and almost 600 foot-pounds of torque. I was a little worried about buyers' remorse, but I've had zero and I know it won't come at this point as if it would have I would have felt it already.

I started looking at S5 Sportbacks, the S3 (that was pretty fun), E53 AMG Wagon and the closest it came down to was against a Porsche Macan GTS. I was a bit all over the place, but I did want to put everything on the table. The Macan was twice the price, which was fine, and it was blisteringly fast, but at the end of the day I'm not ripping around at mach 10 everywhere I go. I drive to my cabin on a busyish highway and I commute to work in stop-and-go traffic. That's my main driving stuff, so comfort became the priority. This G80 is more comfortable than literally everything else I looked at and the self-driving tech is way better than anything offered in the Macan and I like that there are a lot of buttons versus just screens like in all the new Mercedes and BMW vehicles. I'm also tall at 6'4" and the Genesis fits my proportions better than all the other vehicles. I didn't even give an exhaustive list of everything I tried, BTW. I basically sat in or test drove at least 25 luxury vehicles, wasn't constrained a whole lot by budget, and found the G80 to be my favourite.

looks amazing. i love grey/silver and black. but i think the black badge or lettering would look so much better than blank. it's just a matter of opinion and taste.

I hear you. I have purchased the black G80 lettering already. I'm surprised I've been liking it completely debadged as much as I have...usually not a style that suits my taste. Originally I was just waiting for the ceramic coat to cure, but that's been good for a week or so and I'm still not ready to put the badge on. We shall see!

The dealer had applied a Super Polysteel Sealant to my car at purchase at a cost of about $600.00. It’s a nice product which makes the car easier to maintain.

I recently had some work done to the hood of my car and lost the sealant for that area. The dealer is now using a Diamond Ceramic Coating and no longer carries the Super Polysteel Sealant so no way of getting that reapplied to the hood. The dealer made me an offer to Ceramic Coat the entire car at half price. I took them up on the offer and they did the exterior including windshield and wheels and interior for $900.00. This package came with a 7 year warranty.

I was torn between having PPF applied which gives a little more protection, but under the circumstances I am comfortable with the Ceramic Coating and plus if I had gone with the PPF for the areas I wanted protected it would have cost $2,200.00.
