  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Man talk about good but bad luck.
Monday(oct 1st) I had just gotten off the highway and a few blocks from work when my wipers stopped working.
The intermittent setting wasn't responsive and neither was the auto or high settings.
After 4-5 seconds the Low were responsive thankfully, but it was quite odd behavior.

There's a hyundai dealership 3 blocks from my office and I took it in.
Waited in the lobby for almost 4 hours before they got me into a 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT.

The service specialist was a kind gentleman and apologized for the wait (what did I care it got me out of work!)
Their initial investigation mostly looking at wiring, produced no obvious issues.
I went on my way with my rental.
They let me know that they ordered a windshield wiper motor.
They installed it the next day and the issue persisted.
They swapped out the ECU for the wipers as well and the issue persisted.

They ran diagnostics with Hyundai's tech line and found an override coming from the windshield washer sensor.
So when the windshield wiper fluid is low, this sensor tells the motor to apparently only run on low.
Seems odd and stupid (like what if it's actually raining and I need moar wiper power!?)
They reseated pins and connectors in the wiper wiring and they say that may have helped the washer sensor reset..... But otherwise they're not sure WHY the issue went away.

It was all covered under the manufacturer warranty.

Just thought I'd give my story in case anyone else is out there with windshield wiper problems currently :)

Good to know; thanks for posting it. I can see where if the fluid is lot it prevents wiping a dry glass, but should not stop you in the rain.

Moral of the story: Check the fluid level.

My wipers quit working regularly, often stopping mid-stroke and refusing to do anything at all. After spending over a week at the dealership they finally found a bad fuse somewhere. FYI.
