  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 5.0 and noticed a mysterious button on the left side underpart of the dash, about even with the fuse box. Any ideas as to what this might be??? The wiring disappears under the dash.

could it be the Auto Hold or EPB(electronic parking brake)

It's neither of those. I wish I knew how to post a picture and I would show everyone. It's mounted on the lower curved portion of the dash, down near the fuse box on the left side.

Take a photo, reply to your message and click on "go advanced" and that brings up a message box to type in. There are also three rows of buttons you can click on. Second row, 14th button is "insert image" Choose the file and then "submit reply"

Don't touch it. That's the driver eject button. If you want to try it, make sure the sun roof is open.

If it were only that easy. And it is if you are using a desktop. If you are using a mobile phone or tablet (at least from Apple) then you can save your breath because none of the buttons or screens you describe are there. This website is stuck in the 1900s and the SA is not going to modernize it for fear of freaking all of the old timers out with something different. In the meantime posters will continue to ask how to post pictures and others won’t realize why not.

I for one don’t often sit in front of a computer and I have no desire to do so even it would make some functions easier. Mobile users can only post pictures after a lot of contortions and there is no “mark all forums as read”. Retry basic functions just to name a few.

So my plea is to please consider bringing this site into the 21st Century for mobile users.
Ed, I give you big points for trying Maybe it did help.

I forgot about mobile users. I have a 14" laptop that fits on my belly while sitting in a recliner.

The only time I am on this forum is while I have free time at work. I work in an office at a computer. Ive been on it a few times on my phone over the weekend but nothing that cant wait. Granted I have never tried to post a picture from either. My 2 cents

So much for the above photo posting rant.

Posted from my iPhone. My new portable compressor.

Son, maybe you need a course in operating your iPhone? Mobile view never works very well for any website. If you want to post a photo, it's simple enough to go to DESKTOP view and do so.

Gramps (and I am probably older than you are),
Come into the 21st century where the rest of the world is. Everyone now develops applications for BOTH mobile and desktop apps. The fact that no picture has been posted proves my point that it is not easy on this site. So everyone should change so they don’t have to change the site? Why are you afraid of any new technology? It could make your life easier.

Advantages of mobile browsing
Speed
Convenience
Portability
Ease in sharing content
Improved user experience
Often more comfortable and ergonomic browsing experience

Advantages of desktop browsing
Stability
Often greater bandwidth
Much larger screen for viewing content
Full access to website content
Can be easier to navigate content

MORE PEOPLE use android and iPhone/iPad browsers than do desktop browsers

It not a matter making do, its expanding your world.

This is just your opinion and is not a world fact.

Valid points after I fixed it for you.

No you fixed it up to support your opinion. It’s your opinion that it’s just my opinion. Not just my opinion, try doing some reading instead of just relying on your own little world

So you see it’s NOT just my opinion. Now what do you have to support your opinion that it is wrong?

To quote from one article, so you can say it’s JUST my opinion
What about when a website is not optimized for mobile browsers?
When a website is not optimized for mobile viewing and a user is trying to access the site with a tablet or smart phone, they will often get frustrated and leave. This is why every site these days needs to either be a responsive website, able to scale to a mobile size, or have a separate mobile version.
Mobile browsing is quickly becoming the dominant form of browsing for users of all ages. People are finding that the mobile browsing experience is much more convenient and comfortable. A mobile website is often quicker browsing experience which means that there is less loading times.

So we should just educate everyone to do it your way instead of making the site friendly enough so that it works intuitively. What you call bitching I mean as constructive suggestions for improvement. Sorry you don’t see it that way. Don’t you ever want things to be better or do you just wait for competition before you make any changes or lose members? Again the fact that people keep asking over and over how to post pictures is evidence that education is NOT the answer. The beatings will continue until morale improves!

Personally I use the desktop version on my mobile and that is how I post pictures. But clearly I most don’t.

Now if someone could explain to me why when I click on a thread it takes me to the earliest post instead of the latest post I would love to hear what I am doing wrong. Who wants to keep going to the first post?

Some folks don't realize that you can get a desktop view in a smartphone. Education is the key, rather than bitching. The desktop version of this website is great in my iPhone. It beats the mobile version by a mile.

Yea! I forgot about that. Firefox on Android has check box that says: "Request desktop site". Looks 1000 times better than mobile version on 7-9" tablet.

Well, you need to click on the "last post" arrow image.

It is circled in red in my image attachment.

Can you see the attached thumbnail on you mobile device with the desktop view? I can’t on my iPhone. I am sure it is something obvious. Right now it seems you have to click on the post and then click again on view unread. I must be doing it wrong.
