  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2022 G70 NAV system can find almost no street addresses. I live in the Washington DC metro area so this shouldn't be an issue. I uploaded the latest update and still no luck. Anyone else having this problem? It effectively make the whole NAV app unusable.

In the first week or so of ownership, I had a lot of failures, until I started saying numbers differently. e.g. three hundred elm street would fail but three zero zero elm street would be recognized.

Please clarify. Is it not taking the address? Or is it taking the address and not able to give directions?
How are you inputting?

For example, I type in a street address in "Places" as:

43 Spruce Street, Malden, MA. By the time I get to "43 Spruce" it's already not finding anything. This happens with most street addresses. (It's not even taking the addresses to begin with.)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Thanks, I'll try that. Spoiled by Google Maps, I guess...

Do you put in the state first? Only then will the street come up. On mine it is at the top of te window

Welcome. This discussion has been moved to our Genesis G70 Technology forum...

Thanks lot your specific description of the problem I have some suggestions for you.

Here is how I would find that exact address via typing:

Type "43 Spruce"
Select OK.
It will them execute the search and display one or more pages of results.

From where my vehicle was located at the the time 43 Spruce St. in Malden, MA the 3rd address on the first page of results.

What to learn form this. The system has very limited memory and CPU resources. It also has a fairly extensive list of common retail and chain store names embedded in the voice recognition system which can be quickly searched via a hash table. So as you begin to type, it tries to autocomplete from its internal list of common business names or product names (like MacDonalds, or Coffee). It can do this autocompletion only for those things in the small hash table. What you didn't realize, is that it will only search the whole address database when you select OK.

For voice lookup of that address, (when in Massachusetts) I would press the voice button and say "find four three spruce street malden".

So, to recap. The poor UI fooled you into thinking that the lookup was live because it tried to autocomplete the first few letters from a small dataset, but it was not really live. Because you did not know that, you never actually gave it the address to look up by submitting it with OK.

I understand wanting to be able to manually enter this info but consider trying the voice option. I tend to resist such things but I find it to work quite well in my 2019 G70. It's far easier and faster than manual entry.

Yeah, there's a flaw with the system (and that's been with ALL 4 Hyundai/Genesis I've owned of late), but just ignore that. Threw me off guard the first time too. But after you click on 'ok' or 'search' button (or whatever it is), it has always found the address, even without putting a state first, so that's not necessary. If there is an identical address on another state, you just get both, and click on the one you want. Finally, I haven't tried nav with the newest update on neither the G70 (which I just finished updating), or the 2022 SF Calli.

Thank you so much. Works perfect!

I find that almost all GPS problems result from operator error. Most of the time due to not reading instructions or in this case the Owners manual. But everyone tends to blame it on the GPS. I find the G70 unit is exceptional in it's ability to understand what I say and find the location.
