  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Probably a generic automotive question, but with what and how would you clean the screen?

For interior dust, there's nothing better than a clean, dry, microfiber towel. Be sure to use it gently to "dust off" the screen too.

On a recommendation some time ago from a member of the forum, I use 303 Aerospace Protectant for all kinds of interior cleaning, including the nav screen, with great results:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/303-Products-Protectant-With-Spray/dp/B000XBGQ0E/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1364672467&sr=8-6&keywords=303+aerospace+protectant"]Amazon.com: 303 Products Inc 8 Oz 303 Protectant With Spray: Sports & Outdoors[/ame]

Any clean, dust-free towel is good. Just dampen it if it's grimey. Don't use any window cleaners or stuff with solvent. Can go to Staples and get cleaners for LCD screens...basically a mild soap/water mix. Staples brand is only a few dollars and good for laptops/monitors as well.

Swiffer is great for removing dust, but if your screen has a lot of fingerprints on it I find that 303 works well

People who touch my non-touch screen screen end up like Jimmy Hoffa!

Einzett Cockpit Premium with a microfiber towel.

Shine-free finish for all interior trim surfaces
Cleans, cares and protects
Leaves an anti-static finish
Cleans audio and navigation screens
Leaves a fresh citrus scent

The anti static properties are what I really buy this product for especially for the nav screen. Does not leave a slick finish like 303 although I do use 303 on other areas of the car.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
For the non-touch Tech package nav screen in my car, and for general dusting of the plastic-wood surfaces, the little cloth wipe that came with my glasses works fine. It's designed for fragile coatings on glasses, plastic lenses, etc. so it's soft and hasn't scratched the nav screen nor fake wood surfaces. I haven't needed any cleansers, nor even to moisten the cloth, for general dusting and finger-print cleanup. Not sure if it'd be enough for folks having to clean up after little kids.

For hard plastic surfaces in my other cars that eventually get dirty from hand/skin oils (e.g. turn signal levers, wiper stalks) I just wet the corner of a soft towel/cloth with the ammonia-free style windshield washer fluid (blue stuff) and wipe the plastic. Cleans them quickly without scrubbing, hasn't altered the lettering. And no smell, no sticky or slimy residue either. Just make sure it's ammonia free; some of the anti-freeze (winter) washer fluids have ammonia and that may attack the lettering... and will smell for a little bit. Haven't tried this on my Genesis yet as it is new enough to not have accumulated that type of gunk.

YES

I use 1Z as a maintenance product and the 303 as an initial protectant as the 1Z does not have the UV protection that 303 has.

Wo knanst vun buy 1Z?

I've been using Lemon Pledge on vinyl, leather and NAV screen surfaces for three years with great results, and a $3 spray can seems to last for a dozen cleanings or more.

I would use eyeglass spray cleaner on the NAV screen. Spray the cloth, not the screen, to prevent any liquids from dripping behind the screen.
