  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just got my Genesis 3.8 a couple of days ago and am completely in love with it. There are only a couple of things I've noticed and wanted to know if they could be changed.

I've looked around and found answers to some (driving mode reset when car is turned off. Stinks that it doesn't save, or you can set a new default), but there was one questions I can't find an answer for.

If there is a thread on this already, I apologize. I tried a search and looked through a number of pages before posting. Also, I'm at work and don't have access to the tome that came with car atm.

My question is this: When I start the car, the LCD screen asks me to agree to the notice because the NAV system starts and is split with the radio. Can you set it to where the NAV doesn't start by default and the radio takes up the whole screen?

Thanks for any information

I thought it just went to the screen that was displayed when you shut the car off. I guess I better check. :)

There is no setting for that. You can try to remove the SD card and maybe it will not go to the nav screens.

The last used screen DOES display after the initialization "Agree" screen times out. Is that what you're asking about?

Hmm, that's interesting. As when I shut off the car, I have the radio at full screen. But when I turn it on again, after pressing "Agree", it has the radio/nav split screen again.

The fact that I have to press "Agree" every time I start my car is a small annoyance as well. My wife has a 2012 Azera and she only has to agree when we actively switch to the nav system. It would be great if I could set is up like that.

Thanks for the replies.

You don't actually have to press agree - it'll time out. Maybe the mode to which it times out is different with different models. Mine is an Ultimate and it went back to the radio screen when I restarted it. I'll try to remember to check it in different modes later today.

The automatic timeout is a setting. As for Radio/Nav split screen, I don't seem to have that (have an Ultimate). Does anyone know is that is a setting (can't seem to find it)?

Oddly, there is no split screen function on the larger screen (that could actually better take advantage of it) in the "higher-end" system in the Ultimates...
