Nav Screen

Today was the first time I tried the Nav and the screen was split screen with map and direction on one side and distances to streets/waypoints on the other. Is there a setting I somehow missed that would just give me full screen directions and not a split one ?

There is - it's in the manual. I don't use the nav much, so I don't remember how you turn it on/off, but I know you can
